Agree. Came across this randomly and it looks interesting. Accuracy would be the big concern of course and I’m too dumb to read through all their specs and science.

The other place would be sensors in the shoes to help measure impact stress and how good the foot strike is.
Running fewer running workouts, but running them harder. Then 'cross' training the remainder of the time.
This is actually a really good guess. If there’s going to be another leap, it seems like this is the best candidate. Especially with cross training machines more closely approximating running hit with far less impact.
Advances in training equipment that will better work running specific muscles without the high impact.
Better footwear and attire that enhances both performance and recovery.
So not really revolutionary new training but better technology to allow better implementation of what we already know.
Also better understanding of an individual athletes strengths and weaknesses. Better training structured to the individuals strengths while doing the necessary work to correct the weaknesses.
Training on another celestial body or in some space vehicle that rotates to simulate gravity only a bit less powerful than on Earth could be the new altitude training.
More advanced DNA tests for kids to identify which could be elite at different distances and how they can best train throughout their lives for their unique strengths and weaknesses.
Maybe something to do with recovery. Friends have told me that they recover faster from racing and training in super shoes. Those can advance. More apparel- tights, etc that help your muscles recover as you run and even as you rest.
That means more and harder workouts. 3-4 marathons a year can become more common.
The re-introduction of gravity inversion boots! They were written off way too soon.
Not really a revolution per se, but heat training will become a bigger part of the standard regimen. Interesting stuff coming out of Norway, moreso with their triathletes right now under Olaf Aleskander Bu, but it will make its way to running as well. It's a bit hush hush right now but they are using real time core temp monitoring, a lot of heat training, hot tubs etc. And not just for hot races. All the time. And they're crushing the competition. It's nothing that hasn't been done, they're just putting it altogether and developing a protocol. Interested to see where that goes in the next few years. This probably has more implications for marathon+ than for short and middle distance.
Or have the human creativity explored almost every avenues for athletic performance? I am talking significant revloutionary methods like the invention of interval training and the incorporation of weight training for distance runners.. Will someone unlock a secret method to sprint the Marathon?
