Not everyone is you. How is that difficult to understand.
So I guess you and several others here are ok with someone using a power imbalance to take advantage of others to satisfy their own perverted sexual needs?
That means they decided to suck the D. An adult made an adult decision, albeit an embarrassing and bad one.
Let's make the scenario something not sexual, what if the coach asked them to commit a crime? I take the same stance, I would tell the coach to F off, and I'd expect a woman to do the same (unless they were just down to commit a crime.)
Women are not children. I expect women to make the same decision as a man would if placed in the same situation.
You're not thinking straight. Even in your crime scenario, the coach should be punished.
Are you cool with a coach who openly says "whoever sucks the D gets a scholarship"? Or one who says "whoever steals 10 iphones from Best Buy and gives them to me gets a scholarship"?
I guess you agree young adults shouldn't vote too. My response has nothing to do with this case, I agree it is wrong what he did and a violation of his position. My problem is people like you who constantly refer to young adults as kids. It automatically excuses them of responsibility and enables you and them to justify their behaviors. Oh it's just a kid. You can't selectively choose when you are or aren't an adult. You are wrong and part of the problem.
And to clarify, I'm talking about young adult behaviors beyond this particular example. We wonder why young adults today struggle with basic life and are overcome with issues navigating normal day to day life. People like you label them "kids" until they are 25. Doing so absolves them of any responsibility to reflect on, grow, and sometimes be even be punished.

You are making too much sense for these apologist.
Translation: skinny dorky beta male teammates who didn’t realize if they weren’t on the same team these girls would nt give them the time of day... so threw stones in the rice is their playa coach
Multiple times I've said I do not agree with this Coach's actions and he should be rightly punished for his inappropriate actions. I've stated multiple times the issue I have is you can not label a young adults as a child or kid. That is not accurate or right.
Lacking wisdom and maturity does not exclude you from being an adult. There are fully grown adults who lack both and they are not labeled "kids" by their fellow adults. Doing so to young adults is a disservice.
Of course we can. Magic doesn't happen at your 18th birthday. What if the law is changed today to make the age of adulthood 21? How about 16? See how ridiculous it is to say that lawmakers determine age of adulthood? College kids are just that. Not many people refer to college students as adults. The Government now allows parents to cover their kids until 26 for health insurance.

Excellent point
Here is another take, isn't it interesting how everyone is coming down on the Reya's mother from the US men's soccer team controversy.
The player is 20 and most are in agreement that he is an adult who should have handled this on his own.
Yet when it comes to a young women she needs special protections and "isn't capable of making adult decisions"

Perhaps some need to look at their view of women.
If Berhalter had sex with Gio I would say that is inappropriate too. Try again.
The coaches that do this crap are 1) sad and pathetic pervs, and 2) dumb asf. They should never coach again and never should have coached in the first place. Further, if sex is non-consensual, it's rape. Full stop.
That being the case, the naivety of many of you when these collegiate situations come up is astounding. These women are not little girls needing protection. Rather, they're closer to apex predators that have ALL the power once a dumbsht coach starts making their foolish advances. The further things go, the bigger the score, and these women who choose to use their bodies for these aims all know it. Sex has always been used by women for all sorts of purposes since the beginning of time. So, if you're a guy that falls for it, you're f'ing stupid. But, let's stop pretending these women are "victims". They totally know what they're doing, proving that they, too, are alongside their coach in terms of their moral depravity. At least theirs is a smarter game to get a bigger payoff, though. Some of you need to wake the fck up.
It's not just colleges, plenty of workplaces have policies regarding relationships between supervisors and their subordinates. Even if it's not illegal, you run the risk of powerful individuals taking advantage of their younger athletes, who may not feel like they have a choice. Especially if the coach is the one initiating it.
I'm always amazed at people who come on here and try to defend the "coach dating their athlete" thing. This is not some grave injustice, there are plenty of other romantic options out there. If you can't keep away from your athletes, you shouldn't be coaching at a school. Simple as that.
We are either a free society or we are not. Telling consenting adults they can't be together for whatever reason is not freedom. We have accepted these same young adults to go fight and die in wars but they can't date their coaches?
We don't live in a free society. Why did you think that?
Yes women need more protection. Men commit the vast majority of rapes and women are the victims of the vast majority of rapes. If women and men are physically equal, why do we have women's sports?

Yeah, that’s why we constantly see these female teachers being arrested for having sex with their 14yo+ boy students, huh?
Yes, many men are ‘pigs’, but many women are just as big of scumbags.
For the main point, this Sesar dude is a scumbag and likely deserves whatever accountability is coming his way. But many here act like college women aren’t horny and know exactly what they’re doing. They do.

The military has a pretty strict policy on this as well.
There are more downsides to workplace romances than upsides:
1) When the relationship goes south, what happens to the two parties? Even if there are in separate departments a breakup can lead to tensions as others might "choose sides" or just feel awkward around them or maybe one of them is not given a plum assignment as it might mean working with the other person.
2) If one gets a promotion, do people think it is because that person was sleeping with the other one. So it can give a person (usually the woman) a reputation of sleeping her way to the top.
3) A perception can be created that one person is getting preferential treatment like plum assignments. Or maybe in a track example, a chance to race in a highly desired meet.
There are probably others and these are involving consensual relationships.
Look at the hot mess on the tv show where the anchors were dating. It is complicated in that one (both?) was married. It apparently was having an effect on the crew and staff.
That's their problem. I don't get into the business of concerning myself with what consenting adults do.
Likely. You probably feel at times like a woman has the power since she controls access to something you badly want. Let's say that is sex. In order for her to provide that you need to make her dinner. If you decide not to do that you have the choice of ending the relationship. Are you harmed? Probably not. You could find another partner.
In work place and college, jobs, income, scholarships and opportunities for advancement are tied in and that makes it a different kind of power dynamic.
You are describing sexual harassment but how does apply to consenting adults?
If someone controls your salary and threatens cutting it back if you do not do "X" you are being coerced. Even if there is no explicit (quid pro quo) you know that person has the power to harm you financially if you do not go along.
This why my argument only applies to consenting adults. If someone didn't consent then it's a crime.
Well that is a situation when a coach of a college team is have sex with an athlete.
We are not talking about a 30 year old coach and some random 18 year old from the mall here.
Also, as a libertarian you should appreciate that a workplace is allowed to set rules for its employees. This is a private entity so the coach agreed to abide by the rules of his employment.
