You're truly one of the cringiest posters on this site. Do you have any self-awareness? Or memory?
My local ice skating rink was a morgue for a couple of months in 2020. People don't die of a "common cold".
This. There’s a lot more nuance to it. It was easily the most sick I’ve ever been and I have lost loved ones to it.
It wasn’t the apocalypse causing Black Plague part 2 that was advertised, but calling it a common cold and a gov hoax is extremely insulting to the many that have lost their life to it.
250 million cases is huge and almost unbelievable, but my wife has family in China. They all have it. Her sisters, their spouses, kids, their in-laws. Everyone. She doesn't know anyone in China right now who doesn't have it.
No meds are available and the hospitals are only taking the most desperate cases.
Why is it only bad if it kills your? 7+ million people in the US (many of whom are under 40) now suffer from Long COVID, which for many can be debilitating and put them out of work

It's insane.
Do they know anybody who died from it?
anybody below 40 years of age?
Yeah, because anyone over 40 years of age might just as well be dead.

"lawn COVID" LMFAO -- they'll never taste peanut butter again!
Officially, China has reported only eight Covid deaths this month – a strikingly low figure given the rapid spread of the virus and the relatively low vaccine booster rates among the elderly.
So CNN believes the reported cases are accurate but is skeptical of the deaths?
Sounds like it is a weaker but more contagious variation of COVID which is the expected evolution of viruses. Essentially just another strain of the common cold at this point.
Just as long as air travel is not affected, everything should be fine.
it’s ok. I checked. Plenty of arrivals from China today at my local airport. Ouf…. I was worried for 1 second.
Ouf we get until Jan5 to fly from China without having to prove a negative test from the past 10 days (lol) and from certain airports
At least there is no sense of urgency, which would be bad…
Because we all know that cutting this early is not really useful…

So many people looking for reasons not to work. weak.
Proves that draconian lock downs dont work. if we mess around and man make new viruses the best policy is to just get infected and let the natural immunity take care of it.
I saw the old familiar signs encouraging masking back up in subway cars today in Manhattan for the first time since they disappeared from my view many months ago.
If China had been vaporized after the virus was found to have originated in a Wuhan lab, this new surge would not be happening.
Stay positive!
So you're encouraging the extermination of an entire race of people just because their repressive, authoritarian gov't experimented in a lab? You know most of these people are innocents who have no say in what the CCP does, and in fact are already being systematically oppressed by them, right?

The lab was a subcontractor to NIH and friends. Mr. Crazy News’ sentiment is equivalent to wanting Foxcon nuked because your Apple Watch is on the fritz.

Were you absent from the world when it had 5% fatality rate? Since the pandemic began, we've had major advances in harm reduction via vaccination and improved clinical treatment. Even now, COVID is magnitudes more deadly than the common cold, which has a <0.01% fatality rate.
5% fatality rate? 😂 Never happened. No, Covid is not more deadly than the common cold… but the vaccine sure is.
Since ending their zero-COVID policy due to country-wide protests, an estimated 250 million people in China have caught COVID-19. That accounts for almost 20% of China's 1.4 billion population. Just in December.
Those of us in the healthcare community are keeping an eye on a few things. Very simply put:
1. Any new variant. Typically, a novel virus becomes less deadly over time due to a few factors. However, there is the possibility a new variant is deadlier than what we’ve seen previously with SARS/COVID.
2. The infection rate. If the current variant causes serious health conditions, the healthcare system can quickly become overwhelmed. This affects everyone seeking healthcare no matter the ailment. Flattering the curve and slowing the rate of infection is essential. This could be achieved through the measures we all know. vaccines, social distance, masking, etc.
