Congrats Stephanie! Few have carried the letsrun torch longer than you. You are one of the great original posters and you and your husband are wonderful ambassadors for the running community (on and offline, LOL). Good-hearted, transparent posters are an important part of LRC.
If you actually knew what all I had to go through for IVF, but this is LetsRun so I'll give your ignorance a pass.
I am an ignorant LetsRunner. What is IVF and how does it work?
Unfortunately some people think anything having to do with the female body is “TMI,” so you’ll just have to do your own research.
To make this running related though, I had to miss 2+ months of running during the process (which you can google all the meds and side effects) missed 90% of the women’s world championships marathon while under anesthesia (you can google what happens with embryo extraction), and be on bed rest the last weekend of worlds after the embryo transfer. Oh and then I wouldn’t know of it even worked for another 2 weeks.
I don’t mind sharing my experience because there is not a whole lot of info out there to reference for other runners who may be going through the same thing. It seems like poof, someone announces a pregnancy like it’s so easy. Just makes those struggling feel more alone. Think of it like running a fast marathon. Wouldn’t you want to know the training behind it?

The TMI replies have nothing to do with the female body, at least not from me. A person's struggle to get pregnant is a very personal thing, and while YOU do get to decide you can share it if you want, I don't feel like I should be privy to that information as I do not know you personally.
We started in the process while we were in PDX, but adopted at the last minute - the agency called us 2 days before the birth and we were extremely lucky. Did the daily shots for a while, that was no fun! Congratulations again, it is an arduous process.
Congrats to you and your growing family! You should be applauded for taking on the burden of battling through this and beating the odds with your geriatric pregnancy. Keep running, sister!
Keeping track of which pros are pregnant right now too: Elle Purrier St. Pierre, Brenda Martinez, Kate Grace, Gwen Jorgensen....am I forgetting anyone?
