Kipyegon crushed Muir all season, and wasn't the only East African athlete to do so.
Sorry but a claim like that can't pass unchecked. Kipyegon is indeed untouchable but who are these mystery athletes that have been 'crushing' Muir all season? Bearing in mind she missed the indoor season because of injury, the last three major champs that I can think of that included 'East Africans'- Olympics (Silver), World's (Bronze), Commonwealth (Gold) weren't exactly indicative of being 'crushed' by anyone except Kipyegon. There was also a Commonwealth 800m Bronze medal for her in there and another 1500m Gold at Europeans. Sure seems like a lot of medals for someone who was getting 'crushed'.
That is how you race. You go suicide from the start and hope to win or fizzle our. None of this sit and kick garbage that makes racing unwatchable.
How can you not love Muir? She is certainly clean, has a day job and runs as a side hobby, yet destroys fields. She does look like she is in pain and taking a poop when she is really pushing but it is great to see.
She has a veterinarian degree but doesn’t practice. Running is her full time job. Completely agree with everything else though!
Astounding what? Her plan was to go out too fast to bluff. I am just saying, why didnt we think of that. In other words, people usually bomb with that plan. She didnt, good on her!
Fantastic run. I thoroughly enjoyed her postrace interview, especially when she was told she ran 4:14. Seems like a very likeable person.
You know, this is part of the pro track and field problem. I actually watched the Reekie interview before and the Muir interview after...two times over because I have never heard either one speak before! We only know our own US and A athletes a little from talking to Lewis Johnson. I would love to hear more from these pros. Muir and Reekie were thoughtful. Nascar was legendary for putting their drivers out there...doing interviews podcasts radio...it took them form podunk usa to world beaters. I want to hear more from these runners on the few podcasts we have. The you tube stuff is a good start but not enough for this track fan.

Oh god, I'm about to praise Rojo, help me.
The media have got to be more interested in athletes from other countries, and not just the odd superstar like Jakob and Kipchoge. When Rojo is at these global champs he interviews all of the athletes that pull off a big result or national record, even if it's for some small country. He's actually giving us a chance to hear from athletes who have hugely different experiences of the sport. The sad thing is, Jon Gault kind of laughs at him for it. If we want the sport to grow, fans need to be invested when their home athletes aren't competing as well as when they are.
1500m record holder and fully-qualified vet Laura Muir shares how she regularly trains with her pet dog to keep them both healthy.Joining the YuMove campaign...
Muir gave a great interview after the race. She's a is a phenomenal competitor and a class act all around.
Really enjoyed interviewing her. I threw a bit of a curveball with a Faith Kipyegon question to which she had a great answer, and she also handled questions on her previous championship struggles well from the reporter who was talking beforehand.
Wait, what?? You’re someone who gets to interview Laura Muir? Awesome! I want more details on the interview please.

Heh not usually but props to Wejo for giving me a chance this weekend to cover for LetsRun (saw it on the boards he was looking for someone to cover and I live close so props to my wife for pushing me to give it a go). There was a British reporter asking some good Qs that I took down for the first 4 mins here, and from there I wanted to hear about the time, the move she made, what events she'll be doing next year (with fewer champs), and then Faith Kipyegon.
Apparently it is bigoted to quote Hiltz on her gender fluidity.
“The best way I can explain my gender is fluid. Sometimes I wake up feeling like a powerful queen and other days I wake up feeling as if I’m just a guy being a dude, and other times I identify outside of the gender binary entirely.”

No, that’s fine, albeit “old news” and somewhat off-topic given the subject of the thread. It’s your disrespectful opinion you tacked on that got it deleted. Just stop being mean toward Nikki Hiltz, it’s pretty simple.
