Tracksmith no longer supporting Atalanta NYC?

There are many moving parts to this. We only know some, and what is said around. She was terminated in connection with her lawsuit when you look at timeline

Mary can have a non profit and the runners don't have to be that fast and can do work with the community in NYC. That doesn't mean it's a fraud. She can even pay herself a salary.

I have no idea if she does any of that but none of that would make it a fraud.

There is ZERO evidence of any fraud. She has clearly gotten some funding for her enterprise which is admirable even if you think on the elite level it may not amount to much.

Those aren't their "fans" feigning confusion... don't kid yourself, you're only fans of seeing Cain fail and Tracksmith lampooned.

I don't think there's any fraud going on...those assumptions got out of hand, fast.

But the question remains...what exactly is happening with Atalanta? For an organization that is run by and comprised of 20-somethings, they have a TERRIBLE social media presence. Which is confusing, because some of the runners have better Instagram accounts than the organization as a whole. Social Media Managers are everywhere, if you can't do it yourself, hire someone.

The other day they posted some workout "clips" from Van Cortland...didn't say what they were doing, didn't mention the other two runners that were with them...just no substance whatsoever. Is Jamie Morrissey gone? Is Julia Lucas with these runners everyday or just consulting from a far? Do they have group runs, etc., that are open to the public? WHEN are they racing? What were the results from the races? Basic stuff.

And then there's the lack of substance around the "mentoring" which is supposed to be a big-part of their day-to-day. Who are they mentoring? Why don't they post a quick clip of Karisa talking about how fulfilling it is to mentor kids in NYC?

This is basic marketing 101.

Lastly, this is the signing season for recent grads...$60k and the opportunity to live and train in NYC is pretty appealing, especially if they are taking a chance on girls who weren't quite All-Americans in college. No new signees?

And yet unsurprising. Almost as if it is culturally systemic.

I think this is the real rub here... It's becoming increasingly clear that the whole "mentoring" thing hasn't amounted to much. I listened to Mary Cain on that cold brew podcast and it seemed like she knew all the right woke terminology to use, but when it came to actually engaging the community it doesn't seem like anyone at Atalanta has much of a clue.

I like Mary Cain and I still do. I root for her and I still will.

She brought to light some real issues within women's distance running and coaching. Those issues are real whether you like Mary or not. And she was abused. What happened to her was unacceptable. Pushing her to weigh an unhealthy weight, causing her an eating disorder, when there's no evidence that weight would have helped her run faster? Hiring a fake psychologist to tell all her secrets to her coach? Giving her PRESCRIPTION DRUGS SHE DOESN'T HAVE A PRESCRIPTION FOR to lose weight? Screaming at her and berating her? Acting like your athlete is a nuisance when they self harm and show serious signs of emotional distress? All this behavior can either AT BEST be described as bad coaching, and you have to admit a lot of women were impacted by her story.

I didn't think Atalanta was a good idea, but it was a nice try. The truth is, distance running does take some sacrifices. Living the New York City life isn't conducive to serious training. Atalanta sounds too much like Atlanta. Also, runners are supposed to run fast and win titles. If you don't do these things you won't have a place in competitive sports as a pro. This isn't a 9-5. But that's not to say the sport can't change.

I definitely agree that the real issue is lack of fulfilling the mentor issue

I think should they actually do the mentoring, then supporting the athletes is good

randomly ran into them working out at the track last week and they looked speedy getting ready for falmouth road race next weekend. They were super nice too and the head coach came up to me and my teammate and introduced herself, told us we looked fast. I wish them success.

Let’s get real, I love Tracksmith. They are legends in my eyes, but please…. As soon as the woke blm theatre came to town, their models and minority posts quadrupled. Like most companies that feel obligated to play

Let’s get real, everyone else who has posted this has not been able to explain how they are “woke” and ran away when their lunacy is pointed out.

What they mean is they want a Safe Space where they don’t need to see Black and Brown people.
