I’m new to this MB and I’m baffled by the venom directed towards this website and I suspect that all the Haters here are from the Club of Never Has Been Bums…
I’ve come across the types who yell at refs during their child’s games, claim to know more than anyone else about a sport they have little or no experience in and almost always they are adults now who never were much of an athlete because they lacked the talent and the discipline and it’s a symptom of your unsatisfactory life.
I suggest that you should appreciate and respect the website and the 3 men who cover T&F, XC and running better than any other outfit in America. I love their honesty, knowledge and experience and my love of T&F is enhanced by Let’s Run.
I couldn't agree more with this. LetsRun is how I (and, I expect, a significant amount of the people here) first got into following running and how I keep up with what's currently going on in the running world. It's nowhere near a perfect site, but I think all the hatred is unhelpful and disappointing. A clear case of biting the hand that feeds you. I for one appreciate this site and would be sad if the Brojos & Gault stopped doing what they do.
Everyone who knows *anything* about T & F thinks Flo-Jo was one of the most blatantly obvious dopers of all time. And she ran times vastly faster than anyone else has ever run, till this crew of Jamaicans. That doesn't, of course, guarantee that anyone else who runs that fast (or close) is also a doper, but it sure as hell is legit grounds for some suspicion. In any case, Jon's doing *nothing* wrong by raising the profoundly suspect nature of Flo-Jo and her records. Really, it's everyone *else* who's doing a disservice, by refusing to ever raise the issue, and pretending that she and her records are 100% legit, when they surely all know that's very likely *not* the case.

That does not mean we have to sit quietly and accept the bad side of LetsRun. They can and should do better in focusing on the sport in a professional manner. Small steps have been made in some message board threads but they really need to decide if they need the incel, conspiracy theory crowd to sustain their business model while competitors (like Citius) draw people away.
No one will sit down and talk to LRC while they flock to the Citius house for their live show. While they are not perfect, I am enjoying what Chavez and Merber are doing because it is a celebration of the sport and we really need that now. They even call themselves the “Today Show” of track. It’s fun and refreshing compared to the LRC daily show full of ludicrous hot takes from Rojo while Gault and Weldon try to talk him down.
I appreciate good journalism but LRC is just becoming horribly cynical while looking both old and tired. There is a way to get at truth but “gotcha” questions in the mixed zone is not the way. You guys look like jerks and further cement your poor reputation, especially with women athletes. Good luck getting an actual long form interview with anyone based on this nonsense. The athletes, their agents, and the power brokers of this sport know who you are.
And yet despite all of the above, they've had Shelby's back every step of the way.

yeah I think Shericka (and a lot of people on here and twitter) interpreted his phrasing "only one person has run faster and it's in question" as "well yours is in question too then" which is an obvious dig, when he meant "do you view yourself as the clean WR holder?" which is an obvious praise. it's not really an important question to ask, but no questions in the mixed zone are very important, e.g. "how did it feel to win..." or "what was the preparation like..."
I agree.
I thought it was obvious he was saying "Many would say you might be the clean WR holder. Do you agree?" But it seems she interpreted his question differently and got offended.
She wasn't going to answer that question either when it was clear Gault was just trying to bait her and draw attention to himself.
FloJos records have been debated for decades and it's perfectly appropriate to discuss their legitimacy on opinion foruns such as this one. But Jackson had just run the best race of her life and was celebrating her Gold. It was an inappropriate question for the setting and Jackson saw the clumsy attempt for a controversial soundbite for what it was.

I really enjoyed their interview with Trevor Bassit, such a great dude.
Of course she shut it down. There is virtually nothing between her and Flojo's record. If one was doped then it is likely that so is the other.
Ok. Let’s say Flo Jo is a doper, and by your logic Jackson (#2 AT) is as well.
Would we then say #3 all time is a doper, too? And then by extension, #4, 5, 6 etc.
What’s the threshold for how fast someone can be before they are a doper.
I think the reason she doesn’t want to go there is exactly as said it was. If they’d the record, why question it? Just try to break it.
You are a little confused about numbers - and logic. It isn't a series of numbers that raise the question of doping, it is the number that is the time of a doped record and the likelihood that any time close to it will also likely be doped.

Hahahahaha, can you imagine these morons doing a long form interview? Jeezus.
But here's the thing. I don't think the blowjos WANT any type of long form interviewing on this site. They purposely go after the controversial gotcha questions because it can generate "headlines" on this site and more clicks. Plus, when people don't really answer their ridiculous questions, they think it allows them to climb right back up on their self-imagined pedestals of supposed moral authority over our sport. They think it confirms their conspiracies when people won't answer them.
Brojos think they're Drudge of running. Except that Drudge is dead and his website is (also) dying.

The fact that you think we should appreciate and respect them is absurd. Why would I respect morons? They're all idiots, and it seems like you are as well.
Throwing shade on the sport after her huge win was poor form.
The right place is in a long interview.
Agree completely. Context is everything. LRC like to his behind the “we never get to interview these athletes” excuse, but this kind of nonsense is likely at least part of the reason for that.
The question was a lame attempt to garner a moment. Shericka handled it very well.
If a person thinks "everyone" is doping and it's ruining the sport why do you follow the sport?
Every time a record is broken the nay sayers show screaming "dirty"
Why in God's name do you watch or post about the sport?
You are miserable and you hope to make others miserable?
It's the greatest sport on earth!!!
Not everyone is doping but you can look at certain people (Barry Bonds, Flo Jo, Jarmila Kratochvílová) and wonder why their physical appearance has changed drastically.
"I was astonished by the way Flo-Jo changed from the slightly overweight, sluggish sprinter I was easily able to beat in training in California." ~ Lorna Boothe (Flo Jo Training Partner).
Jacques Piasenta, coach of European 100metres champion Christine Arron, said: "I saw her change at an astonishing rate. With her times, she could almost get into the men's 4 x100metres."
I hate that most track media is just a bunch of hyperfans. I can't stand Citius a$$kissing interviews, and how they rhapsodize over Shelly Ann's hair color of the week, when at 35 her performing at that ridiculously high level is inherently suspicious.
I can't help but remember the way that David Walsh and Paul Kimmage were crucified by their fellow media and fans for years, and when Lance finally admitted guilt--those same media people, whose job it was to cover the Tour and ask tough questions, acted like THEY were betrayed, and cried a river (see: Rick Reilly).
I appreciate letsrun asking tough questions 90% of the time. I wish it were 100% of the time.
I thought Gault's question was a bit weird in the circumstances. I also think that athletes SHOULD be asked about doping, and dopers in the sport. It's not "rude", give me a break. We lick out of the palms of their hands, and then when they are caught we clutch our pearls and act betrayed.
I do wish Gault didn't ask Frerichs about DSD athletes. That's kind of putting people on the spot. It's okay not to have a fully fleshed out opinion about that yet or want to keep thoughts private given the climate. However, I was incredibly frustrated by all the interviews with BTC athletes last year when Shelby tested positive, they all defended her in interviews and weren't taken to the woodshed by media. That is frustrating.
TLDR--the question was weird, but it is literally their job to ask about doping, and I'd take a reporter like Gault over all the mega fans at Citius or Women's Running any day of the week.
