Use Alabama, for example. A very small % of Alabama has a college degree. Tens of generations of your family have paid taxes in Alabama. You might be the fastest person in the state. But sorry that taxpayer funded scholarship is going to a Kenyan.

Maybe you are the class valedictorian of your school and you apply to Harvard. But your school has limited AP classes and you had to work to pay rent for your family so you didn't have time to do as much volunteering or to learn to play the Oboe like the senator's son did. Absolutely. The idea that anyone but the government should be deciding who's admitted and what's taught in classrooms is absurd. I totally agree with you that the government needs to play a much larger in the lives of individual citizens and should be making these sorts of decisions for us.

I thought about this and realized that without the NCAA track program many countries would not be represented in the oly or wc. Could u imagine the us sweeping most of the events? Not fun. That being said maybe colleges should be required to 'even out' the scholarships it gives to foreign athletes. Call it TITLE 9B for every foreign scholarship a college gives it has to give another one to a domestic athlete.

The government should say no academic or athletic scholarships or financial aid to foreign students. They can still come to the school but they have to pay full tuition. If the USA schools are such a great opportunity, then foreigners would be happy to pay full price, right?

That would not involve the government deciding who is admitted or what's taught. That would be the government ensuring that taxpayer dollars should benefit USA citizens - the ones paying the taxes. It's the equivalent to making sure the government isn't sending social security paychecks to Kenyans who have never set foot in this nation before.

You're not thinking big enough. Don't be such a liberal snowflake. The government absolutely needs to intervene in the classroom. In addition to not giving scholarships to foreigners, the government needs to stop all these schools from admitting minorities and women. Make America Great Again!!!

Yeah, it's great to push away the brightest international students to keep America safe for Americans, right?

Then the British and Australian and Kenyan athletes can go to Oxford or Cambridge. I don't know why you and others are giving subtle accusations of racism. It's not about keeping America safe. It's about having the limited opportunities in America go to AMERICANS. Don't you care about income equality? The people in America that get screwed over most by foreign students are minorities and low income families. You don't want more opportunities for minorities or 1st generation college students?

There are thousands of American students with 1600 on the SAT that get rejected from Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, etc. "Pushing away the brightest international students" results in more Americans with a perfect SAT score getting the opportunity. That is not reducing the quality of a Stanford education.

And again, the international kids should be allowed to come if they pay full tuition. If they aren't willing to pay full tuition, they should stay in their own country for college.
