Ed wasn't even the best on his own high school team, well-behind Todd Henderson mostly, and, according to his coach, mostly over-looked when recruiting came around, he's actually from Dayton, so he should have attended South Brunswick HS. I heard he doesn't run all that much- on a 6 day diet, and to make up for it, being a true Garden Stater, supplements his low milegae with a copious quantity of mom jokes. He once witnessed a street fight between Vince Cartier and Mike Butynes. He told me Mike Butynes made Cartier look like "Camden".
no slattery love?
Slattery was/is pretty awesome, what about Fred Sharpe, or Murad Campbell, both of them made runs at Slattery despite ....well despite a lot.
Renaldo Nehemiah
first in the world to break 13 seconds in the 110 hurdles!!!
Slattery was unquestionably great, but he couldn't beat Matt Elmuccio of Westfield in the mile. Elmuccio has to be mentioned among the all-time best because of his many state championships. Split 4:11 on the 1600m leg of the Distance Medley at Penn Relays as a sophomore to win it for Westfield. Elmuccio's also just one in a long line of outstanding Westfield distance runners -- Cliff Sheehan, who's been mentioned in this thread, Ken Robinson ('64?) who went on to break 4:00 (running for Arizona St.), Dave Calvert (multiple state championships in '66 and '67).
Butch Woolfolk, who later played for the New York Giants, was a juggernaut in the 100m and long jump for Westfield, as well.
If you bring up Harry Nolan(masters)Don't forget Roger Price who beat Harry at the USATF 5k x country nationals for the championship. I think the years were 2000 and also 2001.
On the women side Dorian Meyer won the masters div at the NY marathon not sure of the year.
How about Joe Savage from Rozelle Catholic and Manhatten College fame

Does anyone want to validate or refute a claim I heard a few years back about Raoul Nehimih while enjoying a few old fashions at a Moose Lodge in Ewing? I heard Renaldo ran something crazy at Princeton in the 4x2, I dunnu whatever it was it was a 200, and supposedly he ran a crazy split, like 18 something.
I'll throw a name into the mix
Gary Trojanowski St. Joseph's Metuchen
Cranford's Roche....Olympian in Steeple...'72(?)
what about the infamous brian kerwin?
or the infamous and very talented Bobby Siehl?
Milt Campbell, the 1956 Olympic decathlon champ, was perhaps the best in the country in the high hurdles as well.
I believe Gerry Vanesse was from New Milford, Connecticut.
Pat Mellea. BC soph. He will go far.
chris bennett, of course.
definitely
Rich Kenah
Kerwin, Bennet? I can see there are some CBA guys on here. Might as well name all of them. Glackin, Peterson, Falvey, Hoffman, go back as far as Lippin. Come on keep em coming
