Capitol Police officer Edwards testified that she was close to Sicknick and saw that he was white as a sheet. She thought that was weird because he had been sprayed in the face with a chemical irritant, and that typically results in red face.

One of the first witnesses in the Jan. 6 Committee hearings was a U.S. Capitol Police officer who described being sprayed in the face with an irritant brought by West Virginia resident George Tanios. In the televised hearing,...
The funny thing is that anyone in their right mind would believe that the election would be overturned because of the actions of a few armed individuals. This was never a threat to democracy, any more than any of the countless riots staged by the left in the preceding months were a threat to democracy. Quite honestly, the greatest recent threat to democracy in the United States was the assassination plot on Kavanaugh. If the left succeeds in radicalizing one or two individuals to make an attempt on the life of Supreme Court justices (inspired by the violent rhetoric of individuals like Schumer and the lack of enforcement of laws protecting members of the court by AG Garland), it would destroy judicial independence.

The Jan. 6 Hearings are a taxpayer funded advertisement for the Democrats in control of the house, in a desperate attempt to distract voters from the utter failure of their policies.
You were not there obviously - but did you see this?
These are democrats rioting in front of the white house. Where 5 secret service agents were injured. What? You didn't see the congressional hearings on this?
Donald Trump rushed to ‘terror attack’ bunker as violent George Floyd riots rage near White House
Finish the thought. What's your theory as to where the police were and why they didn't use tear gas? Because they supported the Proud Boys, Oathkeepers and other Capitol rioters?
I don't think there's overt support for those groups but the police definitely lean right and see Black Lives Matter as more of a threat than the Far-Right.
I suppose police have to make a judgment call as to how big a threat is presented. The Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots and looting sprees that you believe are relevant to that analysis did cause $2 billion in damages to third party businesses and private residences (as well as public buildings) over a two week period in summer 2020. So it appears Capitol police could be forgiven in January 2021 for thinking Proud Boys and Oathkeepers were nowhere near the magnitude or threat level that a pending BLM riot would pose. Capitol police threat assessment turned out to be somewhat accurate in a sense: large building were not burned down, very little destruction of personal (or public) property, no widespread theft and looting, no Prouds/Oaths appeared to be armed, Capitol police actually shot and killed one protestor and there were no additional riots and looting sprees in retribution.
Obviously mistakes were made, but the Capitol police assessed threat level on January 6 was more accurate than inaccurate with respect to the events and comparisons you believe are relevant. In fact, it appears to be more a case that the nationwide BLM riots and looting were continuously underestimated for some reason, rather than the Capitol riot was.
I'm still amazed the most powerful nation in human history was almost "overthrown" by a handful of crazy protesters with **zero** guns.
No it wasn’t almost overthrown. It was actually a really flaccid attempt.
But it was none the less an attempt and a violent attempt and that is why so many of them are getting charged and going to prison. The most delightful part is that they’re all turning on each other and people like you have turned their backs on them.
Wonderful stuff 😏
That's a good point. But you also have to add in the other factors, like the attempts to upend the vote counts in Georgia ("get me 11,700 votes"), Pennsylvania, and Arizona. Not to mention all the pressure put on Mike Pence to somehow not proceed with the certification on January 6. Had those factors played out otherwise, we would have had a major Constitutional crisis and it would have gotten real ugly real fast.

100%. Supreme Court justices are appointed for life, so I’d love to hear Schumer tell me what he meant by “and you will pay the price!” He can’t deflect and say “I meant they’ll pay by being voted out”. Seems like his words were more a call to violence than trumps call for people to make their voices peacefully heard. But that’s just like my opinion, man.
Threads like this make it easy to understand why American democracy is on life support. Jan 6, 2021, is still happening. The Republican Party/Trump Cult is seeing to that.

Apparently Mike Pence believed as he refused to get into the SUV of SS detail sent by Trump to extract him from the Capital building in order to prevent him from doing his job.
"A few armed individuals" = epic level delusion. Your Cheeto god boasted about the numbers at his really and then sent them to the capital. Was it just a few?
As far as Kavanaugh goes - he should just man up and buy a AR and become the Good Guy with a gun.

The reason for these hearings is because Mitch McConnell thought Trump was responsible for the riot but that impeachment was not the correct avenue to prosecute him.
The Senate minority leader condemned the actions taken by Trump on the day of the Capitol insurrection but said he didn't believe the impeachment trial was constitutional.

That’s a bit….dramatic
And completely accurate.
Trump is driving the GOP - if you cant see that you are blind or willfully ignoring reality.....
1. Why would several lawmakers immediately seek presidential pardons from the President if they were innocent? Or if it was Antifa? Or just tourists?
2. Why would Trump throw his own daughter under the bus by saying she already checked out and was uninformed? That is very unlike him. He always stands by his people.

Jan 6 wasn't "dramatic"? Trump cultists still adhere to the Big Lie, they refuse to accept Jan 6 was an insurrection, and Republican-controlled state legislatures are doing everything they can to try to disenfranchise Democrat voters and ensure compliant electoral officials. After that does its job, all they will need is a home-grown Putin to take the Presidency and see off what remains of your democratic institutions.

Weird, weird, weird!
A malignant narcissist stands by nobody except himself. She has shown she is no longer "his people".
Very few minds will be changed by this. 70% of Republicans (about 13% of Americans) are just so far gone that they think the election was rigged. Nothing will change their minds.
Anyone who's a democrat knows Trump is a criminal- this isn't going to change their minds.
The hope is that enough intelligent republicans (an oxymoron?) and independents will change their minds to make this sect of the Republican Party obsolete.

I think it's more reasonable to think Schumer was referring to impeachment rather than murder or assault. He may also have been referring to (1) court packing than renders one or more justices neutered or (2) legislation on the issue that a justice can't get around. I think it's difficult to believe Schumer would be crazy or angry enough to be referring to murder or assault when he made that very inappropriate statement.

Jan 6th isn’t “still happening”. That’s what was dramatic in your comment.
Showing up at a Supreme Court justice’s house with a gun and intent to murder him and his family is dramatic, especially over perceived infringement on abortion rights.
Democratic voter turnout in primaries in Georgia was up by a large margin, I don’t think the voter suppression is working.
