Nope. He will run slower than Flatt and Sumner. Our young guys are better than Europe's young guys. Go USA!
It is almost cute how American patriots are comparing their own highschoolers to the youngsters elsewhere.
I don´t disagree that both Flatt and Sumner hold an impressive high level and so do the Newbury Park kids and more BUT....................
You are comparing to a guy who is perhaps one in a generation talent (THOUGHTLEADER: An A+ talent comparable to the Alltime Greats).
How did you think Colin Sahlman did towards Jakob in the Bowerman Mile?
Are you aware that Jakob ran faster in the mile at 16 than Colin did at 18?
Better than Europe's young guys? That guy may also want to check the stats. Lewalski from Poland is same age as Flatt and Sumner...ran 1:45.48 a month ago
Excited to see how Jakob does in this 800m. He's using it as a tune up for a very fast mile at the Oslo DL on the 16th, possibly even a WR attempt in front of his home crowd. Current PB is 1:46.44 from two years ago. He really needs to run under 1:45 today. If he posts 1:44 mid or low that would be excellent. 1:46 or slower would be disappointing.
Hicham El Guerrouj didn’t run a single tune up 800m during his entire career. Jakob would like to improve his 800m PR, but it has nothing to do with preparing for the 1500/mile.
According to the program PDF, pacer is set to go through 400 in 51s, so I'm expecting a fair bit faster than his 2020 showing. Optimistically, I'd say a high 1:43 or low 1:44
LOL.
EVEN IF he goes through in second place, you think he will run 51.5 / 52.0 --> to 1:43.5?
If Centro and Engels were able to run 1:44 Jakob will at least be able to do the same. Possible not tonight but one day where he finds the time to join a 800m race under good conditions.
That's not how it works.
Mohammed Ali was no better in the ring versus Joe Frazier. George Foreman was easily able to knock out Ali. So George Frazier's fans assumed ... . In sports, you have to lace 'em up and find out in the arena. If J.I. grew up differently and trained differently ... . Smart money says J.I. never surpasses the 800m personals bests of either Matt C. or Engels.
Boxing and foot races are two completely different things.
