Another way to put it -- how rich would you have to be to pay for business class?
For me, I'm thinking somewhere in the $10M+ range to regularly choose business class. Less (maybe ~$2M?) if it's a trip-of-a-lifetime kinda thing, like a honeymoon.

In 2003, my brother, dad, and I flew from LAX to Italy. It was my dad's only trip to the homeland where his dad emigrated from, and he died 3 years later. Anyways, my brother was consulting at the time and had a crapload of miles. He and I flew Luftansa business class, and Dad was in coach (Dad was fine with this). If I was only travelling domestically for 5 hours or so I don't think it's worth the cost, but for a 10-12 hour flight, it's amazing!
Dude, you didn’t trade seats with your old man?
Yes, but don't think it's going to be as easy to sleep as if you were in a real bed. It's still very noisy and they want to feed you every three hours. This means they will turn on all the lights and be talking loudly to others around you, walking up and down the aisles. The noise cancelling headphones won't help here and neither will the sleep masks. It's definitely more comfortable than standard but don't expect that you will sleep for longer than like 2 hours.

That's not been my experience with the lie-flat BC seats. The cabin crew ask if you want to be awakened and leave you alone if you don't want to be. They'll also wake you up at the hour requested, with coffee or whatever else you want in the AM.
I have slept for 8+ hours in flat-bed business class. I've found the foam ear plugs and sleep masks very effective. Also, the overhead lighting in the BC cabin is very individuated - they don't just put on all the lights at once when the cabin crew needs to move about. The cabin crew also speak in soft tones at night when people are sleeping.
But the airline, the specific aircraft, configuration of the seats, and the amount of screening and sound baffling around them matter. I always go for a configuration where I'm entirely off on my own. The enclosures are such that once you lie down, you're really in a little cocoon.
Pop a little bit of xan and you will be out for 8 hours.

Whether business class is worth it largely depends on the individual's preferences and the flight's duration. For long-haul journeys, the extra comfort, better food, and lounge access can be quite beneficial, especially for those needing to work or attend meetings after landing. The decision ultimately comes down to valuing these comforts and services against the cost, with business class flights offering a significantly more luxurious experience.
You already made your decision, but for anyone else, consider this: how tall are you? I'm a manlet and laugh out loud when offered extra leg room for extra $$$.
Also, I can't find it, but comedian Marlon Wayans had a hilarious routine about how much better ppl in first class are treated relative to coach. It starts with "People are surprised I still fly coach. They're like: 'You're on TV!!!' His response: 'Yeah, but my show is on the WB!'" Then he points out that he can smell macadamia nut chocolate chip cookies wafting from first class...so he asks the flight attendant, "Excuse me, are those chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies being baked up there?" She says, "Why, yes!" Then gives him a boot to his rear and tells him, "Now go sit your coach *** down!!!"
Tldr; you'd do better to donate that 6k to someone who needs it. Airlines don't. They can't go bankrupt, even though they don't make profits, due to a deal with the devil they struck with the US Government (assuming you are an American). If your corporation is paying, go ahead...the people on /r/antiwork will cheer you for that one.
For the original London-Sydney journey, I'd say a sweet spot (quality/price) would be London-Singapore in Premium Economy, rest there a couple of days, then daytime flight to Sydney.

I’m planning a trip down under, flying from Heathrow to Sydney. I’m considering flying business class as it comes with a lie-flat bed. Obviously, it costs a lot more, about $6-7,000 more. I have the money but I’m not rich by any means. Has anyone flown long haul business class before and do you think it’s worth the extra $?
Great timing. Just dropped $12k on business heading to Asia. Company dime. Thought about how wasteful the entire way although it is a perk.
