So of course the above is preposterous. What some do not realize is that Martin’s solo was actually likely as conducive to a fast time as tonight. The reason I say this is because he had little pressure, he ran no extra distance getting around guys, and credit to him, he ran very even splits. This was negated by the fact he had nobody to draft off of or even follow. To me it is somewhat of a wash. Now factor in all of the racing he has done recently and Martin is likely to run 3:57 to 3:59, which is still impressive as hell.
Gary Martin is extremely legit. Amazing run by Connor Burns. All of the pros who sat on Gary Martin and outkicked him over the last 200m get the biggest thumbs down of all time
I think Martin looks stronger doing the sub-4, but he doesn't have that crazy-looking, all-out kick that Sahlman displays. Martin just looks like he's powering consistently through the thing.
SUPER disappointed that Martin had to lead the thing almost the whole way (discounting the presence of the pacers).
