It’s hard to watch. The best thing she could do at this point is lay low and keep out of the public eye. Stop worrying about the IG account. Stop acting like the system cheated her, because it didn’t, the system worked. If you cut the course in a race you get disqualified- that’s the rule. If you’re caught with PEDs in you, you’re banned, that’s the rule- intent doesn’t really matter. If I was caught with nandrolone (in my case it would be inadvertently, not sure with Shelby) in me, I’d be pissed, I’d try to overturn it, but in the end, if the ban is upheld I’d step back, do something else for a while. Stay close with family/friends and apologize to all the athletes that were impacted by my actions. The productive thing she could do is get a new job. Maybe in a year or two she could think about planning a return to the sport once her ban is about to end, but honestly she should be ready for the crowds to cringe when she steps up to the line- I wouldn’t want to deal with that..
No. I honestly can't explain why anyone cares if she trains with BTC, if it complies with the ban.
Its quite understandable that you dont get why active athletes should distance themselves from banned athletes, given how you gloss over this case. Its about morals.
Ps: You don’t need to reply with an essay, they are quite boring, poorly structured and have weak arguments.
What does "gloss over this case" mean?
Is there an active "association ban" (or morality clause) in the WADA Code which forbids active athletes from training with banned athletes?
If not, whatever the concern is concerning if she trains, or who she trains with, it is outside of "this case".
No. I honestly can't explain why anyone cares if she trains with BTC, if it complies with the ban.
Stafford's cared , others in btc will as well . just watch.
I get why Stafford panicked, as she felt she was being put at personal risk, and not getting the verbatim clarification or concessions she wanted, and it was impacting her performance and her mental health.

As I said, its about morals. You dont invite a bank robber to lunch if you work in a bank. Its not a good look to have her hanging around at training. Athletes will want to avoid the association with someone banned for nadrolone. You might think that is "outside this case" but thats because you lack these morals. But it doesn't sit right with a lot of people. And you cant change that no matter how many posts with unintelligible sentences like "concern is concerning" you write. Or how you unilaterally descide thats outside of "this case".

So weird. Thought you said that there was no problem. Glad we agree there is. Why would you bring your athletes to the point of panicking, feeling they are at personal risk, impacting their performance and mental health, all that so a banned athlete can hang around in her multi year long ban? Great that we all agree you shouldn't do that, and that its best that S.H stays away from the group.

Despite losing the appeal, Shelby will stick to the system screwed her narrative. Because she is a pretty white girl in the west, some will buy it. It seems BTC is along for the ride. Perhaps some of them are on the same drug cocktail Shelby was/probably still is taking.
Expect to see exhibition races that don't count for anything in which Shelby competes or even Shelby competing independently in races which BTC and its friends sanction, listing the results for all athletes but Shelby in one table and Shelby in another table. It seems no one is actually willing to step up and enforce her ban.
Eventually when her ban is up, expect a huge comeback narrative. All the while Shelby will be unapologetic and never admit to wrong doing. Perhaps we'll get a if I did it, here is how I did it story from Shelby in the distant future if she is retired but cash strapped down the road. There is no reason to think BTC is not doping at Armstrongian levels.
She is certainly within her rights to stay motivated, fit, and to compete again at that time. That said, BTC is not doing themselves any favors by allowing her to train in such close proximity and it is going to taint others. The Staffords were wise to leave in that regard.
SO TRUE, so unfair for other runners and SO BAD FOR THE SPORT!
BTC is such a well-known track club, respected quite a lot before but now not so and for them to still keep a doper and train a doper is beyond "KINDNESS". IDK why they are even doing this? A lot more track fans have tinman elite shirts rather than bowerman, and kids would rather wear tinman merch rather than btc merch and get called burrito track club

But why are letsrun posters concerned?
Stafford’s did not panic . They are protecting there brand and are being professional . Your delusional state has you believing everyone should take actions based on “ keeping Shelby happy , and making decisions based on Shelby. You are a LetsRun poster , why are you so concerned ?

OK the Staffords didn't panic -- in her own words, the situation was a distraction, a source of stress, affecting her performance and mental health, and made her nervous.
I didn't question Gabriela's actions or decisions -- I get why she would be personally concerned.
But here we are in a thread that someone started because Shelby training in Utah is somehow important enough to start yet another thread.
If you are not a BTC athlete, or training with Shelby, or coaching Shelby, why should you care if Shelby trains with BTC, is coached by Jerry/Shalane, or trains at all?

You won’t answer your own question . Every single Shelby thread you devote 1000 word essays on why she may be innocent. Why , why do you care about every Shelby thread , and why do you feel you need to put everything into your perspective . Some people believe a sanction Steroid user is bad for the sport. Why do you put so much effort in changing there minds? What is your relationship to Shelby?

I don't want to decide unilaterally. If you disagree, then make a case that these are in "this case".
Here's my case:
"This case" was about rules that can be found in the WADA Code. Which rule allows WADA to judge "morality"?
It is not immoral for a banned runner to train, alone or with others, especially if it is permitted by WADA rules. If it is in violation of the current ban, that would something to write about.
"Not a good look" or "not sitting right" is a PR problem, or a public opinion problem -- are these in "this case"?

Personally, I have a strong opinion on Shelby continuing to train with, and seemingly have the endorsement and support of, the highest quality team in the US because I care about this sport, care about the integrity of the sport, and especially care about the reputation of my country's best athletes. Cheaters are the lowest of the low in athletics because they take opportunities from others and tarnish the accolades of our country when they are inevitably exposed. I wish that those values were shared by Mr. Schumacher and the other athletes on his team publicly supporting a convicted Doper but their actions and statements show their views on doping are hypocritical at best and collusion at worst. We'll never really know I guess but what we do know is she doped, was convicted, and her coach and team are ok with that.

I asked first. Give me your honest answer, and I will give you mine.
Posted on her instagram story - can't share a link but maybe someone more tech savy can.
Posted a picture in her story with a geo-tag just north of Salt Lake, so presumably in the state doing altitude training with BTC despite the blow up that Gabriela+Lucia Stafford leaving caused the other month.
Time was 2:03.47 for an 800m time trial.
Can't believe that after all that last month, BTC said absolutely nothing, Houlihan claims to feel bad about making people feel uncomfortable, and then the group keeps on doing this.
I'm not on strava - is she still posting on there?
She ragequit strava a couple weeks ago
And while it's legal for her to follow BTC around and do the exact same workouts, apparently a couple of her teammates weren't to happy about that. Maybe the rest are okay with it?

Thank you for agreeing that it causes considerate stress for other athletes that she hangs around. It is not good nor moral to cause others stress, mental pain etc, as you agree she did. We can thus agree that she should stay away. Nice to be in agreement rekrunner!
