Does anyone know if she still has to do some races for her Nike contract? I get how everyone needs a mental health break these days but there still has to be some limitations or else companies could never get rid of these kids they sign.

It is sad to see this. She is almost Derrick's age and he has already crossed over the rainbow bridge of running. Looks like Jager may be almost there too. Really liked all of them. From the previous Dyestat generation, Webb was essentially done by her age and Ritz and Hall went on a bit longer, but not that much. She has been in the limelight since her Mom pulled her off the Stanford XC invitational course when she started weaving down the stretch 15 years ago.
A 1:18 is hardly impressive but at the same time, given her success in the past and competitive nature, it takes a lot of mental toughness to finish a race when you know it’s going to be a slow time. Good for her for getting back out there and at least making it to the finish line. Hopefully this makes her hungry for more- I’d love to see her get to a spot where she’s physically/mentally healthy and able to compete at the top again.
Now, she is training 6 hours a day, drinking toilet cleaner and beet juice, taking testo boost and thyroid boost etc. - in order to beat a few hundred (but not all) women and children hobby joggers.
I don't know why people won't just admit she was doping under Salazar. She was a pretty good collegiate runner- nothing out of this world. He "transformed" her into one of the best American marathoners of all time. Without him she is just a good local elite. It's so obvious. I know it sucks because she seems sensitive and looks like child but it's glaringly obvious.
There has to be some serious hormone disruption going on here. For someone that previously ran 2:20, you don’t decline that much unless there’s some medical issues at play. I think when she ran phenomenal, she was riding an edge that pretty much cost her the rest of her career.
Even if she was doping and isnt now, i dont think it would account for this level of decline. Meaning if 78:30 is her natural ability, i dont think dooing gets her to a 2:20 full. If it did dopers who could run 70 flat would be running 2:10 or under (on the womens side). I agree with the poster that said she was riding a razors edge and it cost her the rest of her career.
i think back to that pete julian interview when he said she would definitely be back to form. I would love to know what he’s seeing in training that gives him that hope
Why would a coach openly express doubt of one of his athletes like that? There’s likely no positive signs which is why hasay just started doing personalized coaching, too.

Lol doping with what? A few extra vitamins (L-Carnitine) aren’t going to turn you into a 2:20 marathoner. Hasay is one of the last I’d expect to be doping.
Bjorn Borg was done at 25-26 . He was burnt out with a coke problem. If you google him he still is trying to keep his old 18 y old hair style , though white hair, with a big bald spot. He looks like that crazy scientist from Back to the Future .
