Are you against all college athletes getting money, or only thinking it is not right for KT to get paid?

Maybe KT is not ready to sell her soul and/or soles to the corporate running man.

I just don't think it's worth it at this point. She's not going to get a ton of money and it's not going to be worth the hassle

She comes from a pretty well off family and she's getting everything for free and probably getting a bit of a stipend so what's the point

Is it really worth the hassle to pick up a 5 or $10,000 paycheck

Might as well just focus on running and maximize the pro contract you eventually get

I just don't think the trade-off is worth it at this point and might as well just keep working on the credentials and it'll pay off in the end

They'll be plenty of chance for lucrative endorsements in the future...

How do you know that she doesn't have a deal?

I hope she never promotes junkie stuff like junk food or fast food. Obviously she'll get a shoe contract eventually. But she should pick her sponsors wisely. Maybe she can do promotional work for Tesla or another green energy company. KT Tape obviously.

Because the whole point of a deal is to make people aware of it... It would be a weird kind of promotion if she signed a contract but kept it quiet and the company didn't publicize it either... That would be like bizarro advertising

I’m sure the US media attention from “the trip” had nothing to do with her “burnout”.

Or maybe a good Frozen vegetable company. I mean the only stuff I really like is whole foods and electric bikes. Maybe she can work with a bike company and a health food company. But outside of that there's so much lousy stuff. I guess Pizza isn't too bad or maybe baby food or something. babies have to eat!

Please explain how it’s smart to leave money on the table.

She could have free school, free gear, stipends, and thousands of dollars. It’s not one or the other.

Because she'll have to give up her time and energy to do that. They're not just going to pay her they're going to demand that she actively take part in promotion or commercial or pictures

And all that takes time to set up and time to coordinate and it's just not worth it because she's not a big enough name yet to command a lot of money

In a few years if she keeps doing well then things will change but it's just basically return on time and that it's a better investment to just focus on running right now than to wear herself out with doing promotional work at this point of her career

Katelyn Tuohy eats broccoli everyday, that's a fact.

It's a simple idea, build up her image and marketability by becoming the greatest athlete and actually not chasing every nickel

Just taking endorsements now will actually detract from her future earnings

It's better to focus on being the best runner she can and then she will get bigger contracts down the road

katelyn tuohy has bigger social media and internet presence than 80% of all professional distance runners ... have you seen her instragram???

adidas, food company or any other company would pay a college athlete getting 25k-45k likes per post to promote their product ... by just taking a photo.

YES. i would have collapsed.

adidas will not let go of katelyn tuohy, they will obviously give her a NIL deal not only for her social media presence but also for them to have an advantage when she turns pro

She won't get more than a few thousand dollars for that and anything she makes she'd be better off putting that time and energy into being the best runner she can right now...

Obviously she could make some money off her name but my point is that all of that is going to take time and energy and it'll only detract from her image

Maybe a year before she's ready to go pro she should start looking into that not 2 or 3 years before she's ready
