MS is coming back from a bad series of injuries. You cannot bounce back from that in only a few months. It will probably take about a year. As to tactics, that is something all college runners have to learn.
Pardon me for interrupting but just wanted to give kudos to Angelina Perez for demolishing the NJ 3000 meter record yesterday by like 20 seconds. Also Saratoga Springs for (yet again) snagging a top relay time (do they do this every time they run?). Ok back to your regularly scheduled Katlyn Tuohy discussion...

no need for snarky remarks...If I recall Perez was on close to 9 flat pace for 3-4 laps, no?
Now where would this site be without snarky comments? Other than 50% smaller. Yeah, Perez ran the last 800 in like 2:35 which likely cost her the Penn Relays record in the event. But still a very impressive time for the senior. Also cool to see a mini reunion of the Adler sisters with Vanessa also running in the HS 3K and older sister Carmen doing good work in the 1500 for BYU. I think they also have a younger sister who is supposed to be doing one of the kid relays here so nice to see a family converge in one point and time around a track and field event.
On today's DMR I think UVA and BYU will be close after 2 legs, with UNC slightly back. BYU has the best 800 leg so the question for this race is how close can UVA keep it going into the ancho.
I see Parks appears to be leading off for UNC, so they might be right with UVA going into the anchor (w B Brown) but I think Barnett and Wayment are too good for her there.
I'm more confident now that tuohy will run... As the race is getting pretty hyped
It's going to be windy though so whoever is the lead runner on the final leg might get tracked down from behind... People might just scooch down and draft off the lead runner
Also it actually was a decent race for starlipper considering the winds and that she eased up at the finish... It was rough conditions so she's doing okay just got to stay healthy
Tuohy is pretty aerodynamic so that might help her but I'm worried that others might draft off her... By scooching down right behind her... If she feels a big burst of wind she should move to the side and let it hit the runners behind her... That would be very tactical

BYU very impressive 3:18, 53.6, 2:06, 4:32. UVA got dropped on the 1200 (3:26) surprisingly to me. Vissa of Ole Miss gave it what she had with 4:31 going out in ~2:09. UNC a little slower than I would have thought as well, but no matter the way BYU ran noone (except possibly Arkansas) was going to beat them.
I also note that BYU altered their lineup from the listed entries putting all their best into this DMR (to maybe guarantee at least one win). But now, it looks like if they put their best 4x1500 out there their 4x800 is weakened, and vice versa. But, a wheel is a wheel....
NC State vs Arkansas in the 4x1500 looks close - but NC State needs to run their absolute best meaning something like 4:17, 2x 4:15, and 4:10 (which might be a stretch). And Arkansas can match that and quite possibly beat it.

posters kept saying shes 4:14-4:17 runner and yet 2 races already and she cannot break 4:23

a year ago during indoors Tuohy could not break 3:23 for 1200 on DMR, nor 9:20 for 3000. MS needs more work and needs to get comfortable racing again.
Marlee still looks panicked when she races, often on the outside of the lane and putting in numerous surges to get around people that tire her out for the last lap. Think she has more than a 4:23 in her right now.
You are correct. Marlee Starliper didn't run a very smart race. Because of all her injuries that have caused her to miss so much of her college career, Marlee Starliper doesn't have much experience racing against a group of women as fast, or faster, then her.
She needs a good solid year of staying healthy and then she will eventually develop better racing strategy and tactics.
She is probably in good enough shape to run a 4:20 right now, but 4:20 at the college level isn't going to get her anywhere.
