Meh. Not all correct opinions are popular ones. I was a tad surprised that I was pushed this story by media outlets (because I don't request such celebrity news), so I commented and also gave a correct opinion about the two of them (he being a fool for being interested in her, she being someone that no one should ever consider becoming serious with based on her past behavior).

I am now not as surprised as I see a lot of people here defending both of them. I see that those who are doing that hold celebrities up as idols. That's not how I roll.

I NEVER post here so that people here will like me. I don't care one bit about that. I have too many friends today as it is. I weeded out a couple during Trump's presidency. There are a couple of others who need to straighten their ships or they will be on the outs too.

You have to understand the way the mob operates here. Sometimes once the downvote momentum begins, it is like a landslide and there is no stopping it.

Then don't get married. That's what marriage means in our country, and if they do get married, I'm certain they will say something like that to each other in the ceremony. Won't be long before Jennifer Lopez has a new boyfriend (either after divorcing Affleck or after they breakup and don't get married at all) and she will say something like, "I'm finally happy." And it will be inescapable to hear about it. Bleh. Gross.

Have you informed those who need to right their ships or they are at risk of being expunged from your inner circle of friends just that? Some may not even realize how close they are to being on the outs with you. They might appreciate a heads-up so they can get their sh*t together.

She’s been in several LONG term relationships, the majority of them lasting several years. And while (to my knowledge) she may be in several long term relationships, Affleck is the one with several mental health issues.

Ok. Fair enough. It isn't a typical thread of mine, I agree, but Jennifer Lopez and the media coverage she has gotten over the years has rubbed me the wrong way. I will say though that the Kardashians are more hateful. I can admit that at least Jennifer Lopez has some talent; I'm not a fan of hers, but she is not without talent. It shouldn't be THAT surprising though that I started this thread. I'm a guy who has been married for 32+ years. I don't value frivolity. To me, Jennifer Lopez is that, and I don't like to see people make obvious bad mistakes (Ben Affleck in this case)...financial ones, personal ones, etc.

That it is a legal contract doesn't ALSO mean it isn't the other thing. "Till death do us part" is the most common thing said in marriage vows, and it IS what is expected when people marry.

One of them, yes. He agrees that he needs to. I was part of an intervention with him, and I am his mentor (at his asking) going forward. We will see if he can and will right his ship.

The other one does not know because his missteps have occurred recently. His wife (whom I am also friends with) has quietly been his enabler, but she has come forward to announce that she will no longer be doing that.

In both instances, it's not as simple as someone struggling with an addiction and needing a friend to stay there no matter what. The behaviors they are engaging in are unacceptable if unchanged in both cases. I will not elaborate further.

I am judging a man's decision to marry someone who is thrice divorced, was engaged to HIM before and called it off, was very recently engaged to someone else (Alex Rodriguez). So, in her 52 years, she has been engaged 5 times to 4 different men that I know of (could be more for all I know). Sounds like the definition of a sh!t show if you ask me. It's gross.

Yeah, so what. She has $400M, he has $150M. Does it really matter that much if they marry and divorce in 3-5 years? In the grand scheme of things, no. Are you worried she is going to have children at 52?

They will probably spend more on a wedding than you will save in your entire lifetime. It is good for the economy.
