Maiorano has ran 8:51 in a race that included many of these runners and shouldnt be slept on seeing Gorze isnt on the heat sheet. West Coast will dominate this race between OR-CA-WA
The funny bit is that I listed that same race as a full mile for some of the other athletes. Definitely a goof. I honestly want to see Caudillo challenge some of the NP boys. I'm pretty sure he can go sub 8:50.
I agree on Caudillo. His outdoor season started modestly with "only" a 8:59 behind C. Sahlman's 8:33 at Sundown #2. Since then he's lowered his mile to 4:05 at APU. BTW, people forget that A. Sahlman ran 4:05 for the full mile at Sundown #2.
I’m hoping that the runner that challenged Caudillo at NXR this past fall, Michael Julian, York HS CCS, has a breakthrough race in race #20. I’ve seen a 9:19 3200 for his best time. He ran 15:02 at Woodward behind Caudillo. I was hoping for a sub 9:00 for him, but I’m not sure how healthy he is as he did not start his last race at Dublin. Hopefully he is ready to go under 9:00 next weekend. He is my sleeper.
If the other guys run well and don't try to hang with CS through the mile, I can see Leo ~8:32, Lex ~8:35, Aaron ~8:36, Bergen ~8:40 and Caudillo ~8:45. If NP puts 4 under 8:40, that's a record that may never be broken.
Co-sign. In post-meet interviews, it sounds like even though they’ve been racing 800/mile recently, the NP4 have been focusing their workouts on peaking for the 3200 at Arcadia. I absolutely believe going all four of them sub 8:40 is on the table. Historic. Can’t wait to see Oozma Kappa try to slap a G League sticker on it!
It’s looking hot for Arcadia. Forecast has some kids running in the 90s and high 80s. Down to 73ish at race time for the invitational 3200s, but that heat will have been on them all day.

The West Coast will definitely dominate the race. Because essentially none of the top runners from the East Coast are running. 2022 NBNI Indoor Mile Runners NOT at Arcadia:
Gary Martin (PA) 4:02
James Donahue (MA) 4:02
Gavin Sherry (CT) 4:02
Marco Langdon (NJ) 4:04
CJ Singleton (PA) 4:04
Conner Burns (MO) 4:05
Jackson Barna (NJ) 4:06
List also doesn’t include Josh Edwards (WV) or Rheinhardt Harrison (FL).

It's hard to pin down exact temperatures 5-6 days out but the weather on Friday calls for a high of 95-96 and Sat. 88. But the temperature drops once the sun sets. The two boys' seeded 3200s start at 7:56, so they may still have some heat, but the invitational is not till 8:50. By that time figure mid 60s. They should be fine in the invitational 3200.
Checking the national lists, I see Conor Gibson (West. Torrance) currently leads the US HS 5000m list with a 14:02.3 this spring. He may be able to go sub 8:50 if he has a good race.... It's always interesting to see which guys make big PR jumps at Arcadia. Glad to see there will be a big crowd there Saturday...

looks bad on paper, but been there done that many times as a coach and the kids racing in the inv events won't be affected by the heat. 73 with no solar irradiance is super comfortable. and they won't be showing up much more than 2 hours before they race.
obviously upper 80s low 90s w/directr sunlight during the day is a different story.

Latest forecast- around 85-86 high on Saturday (Friday much hotter). The invitational 3200 is scheduled for 8:50 on Saturday night. By then the temperature should be in the mid 60s.
