Anyone watching the Oscars? Will Smith just slapped Chris Rock and cussed him out

Maybe, maybe not. Open marriage really isn't a big deal for some people. You can care and love someone and be in an open marriage...and then still get mad or upset when someone pokes fun at your wife. BUT, Will Smith's reaction was WAY over the top. F*ck Will Smith.

How did Will Smith not get escorted out of the building after that? You go up on stage and assault a presenter, you should be ejected. Makes me wonder if was staged. I mean Will is an Oscar winner and can certainly act, and other than this incident the rest of the show was terrible.

I’ve been rewatching The Sopranos awfully hard, so much so that a man striking another man over a joke about his wife (and honestly, if it was a joke about her alopecia, Rock should NOT have gone there) makes perfect sense, and also so that it seems like a punch would have been the more “respectable” move.

This incident reminds me of the time when a very young Jim Rome called Mark Everett, "Chris."

I was half-watching as the TV was on but volume low, I was doing taxes and folks were buzzing around the house doing their thing. I saw when Smith got up and smacked Rock, went back to his seat and mouthed something that I couldn't hear.

I initially thought it was staged until I saw the 'this is awkward" reaction on Lupita Nyongo's face and knew something 'unscripted' just occurred though I wasn't quite sure what exactly had happened. Smith initially laughed at the joke but Jada gave a raised eyebrow and was not amused or so it seemed.

I couldn't make sense of his acceptance speech either after he won the best actor award, he went on and on about protecting vulnerable people. But I guess now it all makes sense. It was not staged. Rock had that deer in the headlight look, and almost got a little teary-eyed probably more out of shock than anything else as he tried to explain to Smith that it was just a GI Jane joke.

I am ok with Smith verbally heckling Rock if he felt a line had been crossed but the physical contact is a no-no, especially when he and Jada both voluntarily put their business out there everyday on their TV red table talk forum.

When white people get mad, they call the police, their lawyer, or the homeowners association to settle things!

I guarantee that Tucker Carlson will have an entire show dedicated to black-on-black crime tomorrow night asking, "Why are some people so quick to violence? Why didn't they call the authorities or at least have Smith kicked out? Why does Hollywood act like assault by minorities is no big deal? Just asking questions!".

Besides the fact that it is definitely staged, and an 'acting slap' (just look at the angle of his hand, no one ever smacks like that), anyway, this is the post of the thread.

Not only Kens and Karens, but the 'slap' had the desired click bait reaction from these idiots, all over twitter looking for better angles, venting their rage.

Will initially laughed at the gi Jane joke while jada did not and began to shake her head. they recently dealt with a little drama I guess so she may be sensitive.

This wasn’t staged. It’s live TV on a major network and he’s yelling F bombs. You can also see will instinctively raise his left hand for protection just in case.
These actors have stunt doubles for the smallest of stuff. Plus you can tell Rock is literally confused about wth just happened and struggles getting back on track.

Definitely on Rock’s side ( unless she really was having chemo or something) but damn he’s lucky he didn’t get him more with the bottom of his palm or he’d of been sleeping.

wtf is Will Smith doing?! he was even laughing at the joke until you see her reaction. I’m sure this will get played off as fake or joke but this was 100% shoot. I could see myself doing this when I was 22 then regretting it 20 mins later. He’s a grown man with adult kids. Just insane and inappropriate. Obviously him and his wife have a TON of issues if you’ve ever watched her little talk show. It’s crazy af.

i think we can literally say Smith has lost it a bit.

Rock other than stumbling to get back on track handled this like a pro.
