2nd and 3rd?
ingebrigtsen knew he was there and had plenty of time to cover. he just wasn't fast enough.
Ethiopia took all gold in 1500-3000 m men and women

Breaks Geb's Championship Record.
Quite disappointing from Jacob, feel he was a bit flat.
I must agree. The camera work has been absolutely the best I've ever seen and the announcers never get muted!

Jakob & Abel Kipsang
I think the question with him has always been can he run a sub 13.5 last 100 or faster to outkick or hold off kickers in a non breakneck pace race. If not what is his best tactic? I think he’ll have to push faster and for longer if Tim isn’t there to drive the pace.
Not a field events guy but now that all the mid & distance stuff is done, looking forward to the end of this W LJ with the hometown Serb and the M PV with Mondo & Chris Nilson.
i would guess he is not putting in the speed endurance work to run a race like that in this time of year. He has run entire races at the speed he ran the last 400 there. Needed to do it on strength. He will be much faster 3-4 months from now.

It feels like what Fisher talked about- Jakob is time trial/fitness sharp but maybe not fully race sharp. Capable of running very fast but change of pace and finish not 100% there. That being said the pace he set was able to screw up Kipsang tactically but Teferas aggressiveness and patience was the perfect counter. It was spread out enough the lack of jostling you get leading was no advantage.

I think Jakob should have waited a bit to go to the front saving some energy for the last 3 laps.
But also kudos to Tefera who was flying today opposite the Olympics and the WC in Doha where he was tired after the round(s).

Perhaps that season opener World Record in France took something out of him one month ago.

Just like the NCAA Indoor Championships!

Fair idea, though a slow race had its dangers and Kipsang looked like he was down with that. I think he just didn’t push hard enough or early enough to burn off Tefera.
M PV down to the 3 Olympic medalists but Mondo looks the best. Vuleta about to take gold in the W LJ which should bring down the house.
Mondo kinda got screwed. His record attempt was paused while they ran the men's 4x400. Really plays havoc with the concentration. First jump was an X. Looks like he is going to take all three.
He's tired. #2 was not even close. Under the bar.

When I witness countries such as Portugal and South Korea etc win their first medals ever in events. I'm kind of glad the athletes from other countries with tremendous talent. Skip Worlds indoors. This gives them a chance to earn a medal, something they truly are targeting. Now they have something for their resume and a chance for endorsements and bonuses. Let them have some glory. I do think the more talented athletes takes Worlds serious. But allow another country an opportunity without compromise during competition. I'm all for some of the major athletes awaiting the grandeur stages.
