Why are non-running threads still showing up when I’ve selected running only at the top?
If I select that option it means I don’t want see posts about the trucker protest or some of the other things that are slipping through that particular crack.
A few are slipping through. We need an easier way for mods to fix this.
It would be awesome if the upvotes/downvotes were used over time to give people a "score" and identify who the "top posters" are. Something like Dyestat back in the day would be cool. Was always interesting seeing people's scores and also seeing the anonymous kudos people would give along with the comments.
- On Firefox (desktop), if the vote counts get into double digits the two numbers end up stacked vertically instead of being next to each other as expected (e.g. 18 becomes a 1 on top of an 8 on two separate lines). This is fine in Chrome.
- The padding between posts gets messed up sometimes (maybe related to links?). See the bottom of the first page of this thread, where Flagpole posted about the original LetsRun logo - the post below his doesn't have the correct top padding, it overlaps the bottom of Flagpole's post. This is in Chrome and Firefox.
I have had trouble reproducing the wrapping issue in Firefox. I've tried macOS, windows 7 and 10, and an old release, the current release, and a new-but-not updated release. In any event, I've put a no-wrap CSS tag on it.
If you see this issue, please let me know, namely the browser, OS, and screen resolution you are using.
I've increased the minimum padding between votes and text a little, as well.
It would be nice if there was a sub forum where it was safe to post running related questions. For example, yesterday in the runners over 50 Group on Facebook, a woman asked how she should train for the mile and what weightlifting she should do. Her current mile time is already good enough to compete at State senior games.
I would have liked to refer her to this forum, but I can't because it's filled with such juvenile trolls.
We should have a sub forum that can only be accessed by people who give their real names and want to discuss real running issues. This forum should not be able to be viewed by anyone who doesn't meet the above criteria.

Previously, on this thread, I posted a request to allow us 60 seconds after posting to make edits. I wasn't finished with the above post, but as I moved my finger across the keyboard it inadvertently moved over the post reply button and the touchpad was so sensitive it sent this post. In this case, I was correcting typos as I wrote so it wasn't too bad.
The forum still sucks and is a cesspool. There are still too many racist and derogatory thread here. I'm still in favor of the forum requiring registration with no anonymous posting and long or permanent bans being enforced for racist and inflammatory rhetoric.

Says the guy who posts under "fisky". In these digital days anybody would be crazy to put their real name out to the internet. While there are occasions where it seems perfectly fine, you never know what people will think about it in 10 years time.

You're for requiring registration yet post from an unregistered account yourself. 0/10.

i have also been experiencing the wrapping issue on FF, it looks like this:
Happens on both Firefox 96.0.3 on Debian Linux at 1366x768 resolution, and Firefox for Android. The `whitespace-no-wrap` class didn't fix it but if I manually add the `white-space: nowrap` CSS property to the div it gets fixed.
1) Add a 1 - 5 minute window for editing out typos.
2) Add the option to block unregistered posters.
3) Don't just hide the posts of the blocked trolls; also hide their text when someone quotes it.
5 minutes seems to be what other sites use. You can also change an up/down vote within that same time frame. On other sites, posts which have been edited are noted as such (edited).
Don't forget there are non-native speaker here.
5 minutes is sometimes not enough to search for vocabulary and fire a perfect written english sentence.
The idea of a 12h edit time frame is, that you can sleep over it and think about it, maybe an additional tough is coming the next day. I don't fear any troll post inbetween as there is the 'Report Post' function. Easy peasy.
I'm also still getting the vertical numbers on Firefox (v 97.0 64 bit). 2736x1824 screen resolution. I'm on an old MS Surface running the latest version of Windows 10.

Agreed on not seeing blocked posters' posts and re-posts/quoted posts . . . I blocked 'em, don't wanna see 'em.
