Do you think it's a coincidence that east Africans hold all of the records? You honestly just think they try harder? lol....
East Africans do have better genetics for long distance running. However it’s not that they “try harder” but that they train better. The two are not necessarily the same. There’s multiple pieces to the puzzle as to why East Africans dominate distance running.
People talk of big name sports stars. But my impression is the Halls have lived a dream. Seems like they have done exactly what they want through life. I just wonder when Sara eventually retires, if they will have to go to the work grind. No idea if they have other things going, and if their foundation presents any income.

besides the better genetics, the big issue is they are probably drawing more from their top talent. not volleyball, basketball, etc.
and ive said it before, its not so much about the rank but the number of minutes off from world record. ryan hall is only half as many minutes away from the world record as sara.
and his time was run without the super shoes.

Volleyball players aren't much smaller.
