His lack of speed/talent is showing. The kid has never run sub-15:00 or sub-32:00, he's just your classic shuffler. Sucks the buzz is already done and gone, but at least gave it a good ol' NAVY try. I'm not sure if a Boston downhill will be good for him or bad if he has any eccentric strength left. If this becomes a thing we should get some talent to give it a shot, not someone with a 2:25 PR. Wonder what's next? Wardian's 7 under 2:45 attempt?
He could always shoot for at least *averaging* sub 2:30, so I guess he just needs to hit close to 2:30 tomorrow and he'll have an alternate prize to claim.
For a variety of reasons, I think this is one of the more exciting stories this weekend. Looking forward to tomorrow's performance at Boston.
I can't wait for Boston. This is amazing. It's not over. Some think he's only about going for 3 sub-2:30s. He's going for 3 as fast as possible. It will be a new WR and one hard to beat as there aren't very many Saturday or Monday marathons.

I think someone like Walmsley who trains for running 80 miles of real volume would not mind trying this record.

This mentality is why America's will never be good in the marathon. Charmin soft mentality, afraid of pain so avoid the hard stuff. And myths perpetuated about things being "too hard" on your body, lol.

2) Does he need me to go hand him water in Baltimore? They are going cupless this year and it's crazy they are expected to carry their own water. I'm not sure if that means there will be no elite water stations but if that's true, then I'll be happy to at least go to one location and give him a drink so he doesn't have to slow down.

Can we be clear that there is no "world record"? That's the marketing agency just creating an arbitrary record. Why not 2 days in a row? Why not 4? Why not 5? Sounds like one of those Guinness Records.

Having read the article, I thought they were going to say he was doing the races for some charity or soldiers at Walter Reed, but I guess not.
If he races all three in those Under Armor shoes he’s definitely not going as fast as he could if used Next%, but I guess he has to use UA for his wife. Wonder if this stunt will be used in an upcoming UA shoe ad?

I can see him running close to 2:30 again but the caveat with Boston is all the down hills really do a number on your quads and having already run two marathons, the quads are really going to feel it unless he Superman. So I predict anywhere from 2:30 to 2:45. That’s a large number but that’s the way Boston is - unpredictable. His best is 2:27 + on the course so realistically anywhere from 2:30 to 2:40 /2:45 seems realistic. He ran to 2:25 + on a very hilly course in California, Big Sur, so that’s in his favor. He appears to be an outlier who recovers very quickly from marathons.

I have to admit I'm impressed. I thought the idea that he could do this based on his PRs was ridiculous and that he wouldn't even be close. He may not have got 3 sub 2:30s but he was close enough to prove this was not just talk. Maybe things go a little different and he pulls it off.
