For many decades, Germany’s athletics kit featured a white base with a red band across the chest, along with the coat of arms—a black eagle on a yellow background—placed in the center. This design was not only traditional but also easily recognizable in a crowded field. Even today, German rowers continue to wear a uniform inspired by this classic look.
However, in the past 20 years, the design has undergone several drastic changes. Some versions were predominantly black and red, others included gold, and the most recent had a mix of white, black, and bright yellow. While these still retained some elements of the original red band, such as "GERMANY" in red letters and a small coat of arms, the overall look became more experimental. Despite personal preferences on aesthetics, at least these versions maintained bright colors that suited fair complexions.
While Uganda’s bright red and yellow uniform still works well with darker skin tones, the German kit gives off the impression of striped pajamas or even old prisoner uniforms.
