It was a very good show, but Seinfeld is still the best.

Go back and watch a laugh track show after having not watched one more a long time and you will find it's incredibly annoying.
Michael and Dwight (Dwickt?) make the show but Dwight's character isn't fully realized without Jim's involvement as a foil. Michael would be the same person no matter which characters are or aren't there. Dwight and his priceless reactions come from Jim pushing him and it wouldn't be the quite the same, though Andy did play somewhat of an okay foil for him.

My favorites: Dwight, Andy & Gabe
The whole show is fantastic, but some elements I could do without:
- Kevin (over the top cartoonish...a toned down version of Kevin would have been ok...UK office version had that guy)
- James Spader (not a good fit or character, IMO)
- Nellie (annoying)
- Holly Flax (annoying)
- Clark (zero interest in this character, not funny at all)
- Charles Minor (empty, nothing there)
Wished they had more of:
- Todd Packer x10000
- Creed
- Toby
- Gabe
- David Wallace
- Deangelo
- Mose

100% on more Packard. Going back it almost seems unfathomable they didn't include him more. That episode where he takes a massive dump in Michael's office is so great.
I read somewhere that the actor/writer who plays Toby is pretty dirty and dark, comedically, in real life which makes his character even more special.
I would say the fact that you had to put "not a compliment" in parens sums you up pretty well.
Jim is a simp. He acts like a “soy boy” around Pam. However, he’s in sales, so I guess he’s somewhat of an alpha male away from Pam. But Pam manipulates him constantly. Typical female. She’s cute though.

Jim sucks. He’s arrogant, thinks he’s smart, in reality he is a bad person who sells paper and is obsessed with a ginger receptionist and a vanilla relationship. I never understand the desire to have a “Jim & Pam” relationship. She also got the boom mic guy fired after he’d been going through a divorce. I could go on and on with Pam hate list

I think I've struck a chord. Or as your crowd loves to (ironically) say: "TRIGGERED!"
Pam gets more annoying to me the more times you watch the show. Making Jim give up his dream job for her job that she never liked just because she is afraid to move. More examples as well. If you only want to talk about looks she was decent but the girls that threw herself at Jim during the Florida work trip was hot (can't remember her name).
To me very similar to Monica in Friends (wife's favorite show). Monica is annoying and bitchy constantly. Especially the episode where she expects Chandler to use all his money for their wedding because she didn't bother to save anything. She lives in her grandmas rent controlled apartment with a roommate so she should have plenty. Only fun characters in Friends were Phoebe and Joey.
The best character in The Office is Darryl Philbin. His complete story arc from season 1 to the end is great.
The feedback from the US audience was that Michael needed to be loveable, so they changed his persona in seasons 2 on.
While polarizing, James Spader’s ‘lizard king’ was a truly fantastic, multi-layered character.
Good show, but I think IASIP is a far better sitcom.
