he did an IDIOTIC triple in his state meet a few weeks ago. it totally fried him for this race.
He should have just run once race and won it using the least amount of energy. I guess the state meet was more important to him than olympic trials.........
A high schooler can run a sub 4. But a high schooler cannot run three sub 4s in four days. Foolish to even consider he could. Not a one time time trial.

In some countries at his age they're married and have 2 kids and working a construction job.
His issue is that he is tactically niaive.
He can run along behind in a 3:34 race and do well, but he has no idea to handle the slower pace.
He has no idea of where to place himself. You saw it in the heats. He was panicking with a 100 to go.
Its a lesson. But he's coming into his peak. He is not a baby, no matter what you think. I suspect he is fully grown
