If you’re taking comfort in feeling validated by this crowd you have bigger problems than Squigs does.

So many people (certainly not all) on this thread are acting like adding a mental component onto a series of physical injuries makes the portrayal of the injuries sound “off” or invalid in someway. That is an archaic view of athletic health. It is perfectly normal, if unfortunate, to have mental struggles during a high-pressure training cycle, and it is equally normal for pressure, a consistent series of injuries, and some burnout to pool into something that makes top performances temporarily impossible.
I do not think Colleen sounded inauthentic or particularly vague in the video. Her manner suggested that she wanted to stay composed and professional while sharing bad news. Maybe she did not name the injury because it is a series of issues exacerbated by an unhealthy mental state. Being in an unhealthy mental state can make it difficult to name or trace the source of a problem anyhow.

Have you ever had the feeling that the harder you try to make something work, the harder it becomes and the less progress you make? It’s beyond frustrating and unfortunately, something I’ve been feeling for over the last few months as I’ve been dealing with various injuries.
Earlier this week, I had to come to terms with the fact that my body needs a break. I‘ve been looking forward to the opportunity to compete in Tokyo since I got on the plane home from Rio in 2016, but I’m very sad to share that I won’t be able to line up on the track to qualify for my second Olympics and my 6th USA Team on Sunday.
This is not a decision I take lightly and I am absolutely heartbroken knowing that I won’t have the opportunity to compete on behalf Team USA.
After the Olympics were postponed last year, I took time to reset and reevaluate many aspects of my life. I put 100% effort into setting myself up for success going into 2021. I chose to leave a training environment that was no longer right for me. I chose a new coach that I believe in and know is the right coach for the athlete I have grown into. I chose a new partner that aligns with my values and supports all aspects of me as a human, not just as an athlete.
The changes have been hard - change is always hard. But they’ve also been exactly what I needed.
So what’s next? I’m playing the long game. I’m going to focus on my career as a whole, not just the result of one race or one summer. I’m gonna give myself the rest I need — both mentally and physically — and I will make sure that when I get back to training and racing, that I’m doing it for me and me alone, because everyone who matters to me is already with me.
I can’t promise how I’m going to feel after posting this, or tomorrow, or even next week but I can promise you one thing: after taking some time to rest up, I’ll be back.
In the meantime, you know I’ll be cheering so hard for my brothers and sisters on #TeamUSA as they compete in Tokyo later this summer
How is JG bs meter?
she is glowing / been popped / about to get nailed / avoiding tests.
btc clearly had a programme that she was on. maybe sh is about to out everyone due to the crazy burrito story?
this is all adding up....
Or maybe it's not adding up. She wrote what I thought was a very nice letter. If she doesn't want to share personal info about herself, so be it. It's her business not yours.
I disagree with the contention that she’s doping but sharing personal info is literally her job. Lululemon doesn’t give a sh*t about how fast she runs, they care about her ‘connection’ with her IG followers

Well anyone who would take comfort with your advice, which you obviously have an opinion, has more problems than Squigs.
Not everyone on here is claiming she's on drugs or that it's a mental problem.
Ever hear of bailing out due to pressure? Ever make comments like she has recently and then realize, uh oh, I should have just shut up and ran the race, letting the chips fall where they fall.
Shannon Sullivan is a sissy boy loser who can't face facts. Are you?
You don’t move out to LA for a running career. I have the feeling she left the BTC because she’s no longer focused on just running, which is fine, but don’t act like you are going to continue to train for the Olympics and string everyone along. We all know from her never ending IG posts she’s going to pursue modeling, human rights activist and maybe even acting. Good Luck with lululemon which is way overpriced.
I agree with the poster about Quigley’s new focus or she needs a pandemic break… and curious, she raced with Houilhan in an intersquad 4 x 1500 relay, does that get called into question with Houilhan’s current investigation or get her investigated? I assume not as it is outside WADA’s ban for Houlihan but not sure.
"I'm burnt out and my body news a break."
Um, wasn't all of 2020 a break?
Look, we all get injured and she doesn't owe anyone an explanation of the specific injury. But it'd probably make people opine less if she did ID it.
Ok. I gave BTC benefit of the doubt but now this just seems too strange. Shelby and steroids, last minute pull outs from Lomong, Jager…obviously something weird with Colleen now. Something is up. No more free passes from me.
Posterior chain misalignment stemming from a strained back, due to fishing too deep for compliments on social media
Nothing is “up”. She had no plans once she left BTC to continue running. She’s done nothing but make commercials in NYC and pretend she’s still running just to show off her new lululemon shopping sprees.
Nandrolone COVID variant passed via air molecules from Shelbo. Squigs has been infected. We must all wear masks while running or risk accidental doping.
Rupp knew exactly what he was doing with the pollen mask in 2011

Hardly a loss. She would have had her doors blown off by Leah Falland.
I agree. Sort of disappointed she's not racing bc I think Falland would have beaten her anyways and it would have been cool to watch
I think she knew she wasn’t in shape to finish top 3 and doesn’t want to start her Lulu career as a loser. Their clients don’t care about track, so let them see her as forever an Olympian. The only strange thing is why she would wait so long to announce that she’s injured.
She is one of the last people I’d suspect of doping.
If she was caught with a burrito, Lulu would revoke sponsorship. She's hoping for life after running, and looks like she's forced to start that early.
it's weird that she didn't specify what was going on with her. She just mentioned her body?
I'm not saying there is burrito drama or anything. But it's not that invasive for an athlete to reveal an injury.

Yeah that was weird — why wouldn’t you say specifically what’s wrong with you, particularly after the timing of her leaving BTC and Shelby getting popped...
Because she'll get more attention being vague....
I couldn’t agree more. This is the 2nd time she has pulled out of a major competition at the last minute. She is in it for the fame, money and attention. She knew by being very vague, her tone and then “logging off” would give her the attention she so desperately seeks.
Why wouldn’t you just run the race? Someone could fall, get DQed, etc. she shouldn’t quit during trials. Conspiracy sounds right.
So can we still do #FastBraidFriday
