Unfortunate. Can the guys who got dripped actually petition? They were in pretty good position but there's no guarantee they would have made it.

Yeah no idea how that works. Completely torpedoed his race. 50/50 that he makes it in that position.
Any reasonable person would realize that he would have finished with that big group and run under 1:49 to secure a little q at least. But idk how you successfully argue that to the officials.
If you go to the UNF stream and put it at .25x speed you see that Zepf's right foot hits his lower left leg, causing him to fall. I don't think any foul play happened here, rather just an unfortunate scenario all around.

Yeah I saw that as well, looks like he overstepped coming off the turn. Not sure how they deal with that.

Well his protest did not go through. That just sucks. Feel awful for him.
Said on the wesfly Instagram that the officials agreed with the protest but didn't have the power to overturn it there. Apparently will go to the NCAA board tomorrow to see if he gets in.
