Both Avila and Wynne have very respectable 1500 m times, basically world class, and just a bit slower than Mo Ahmed. Both Avila and Wynne are significantly faster than Mo at 800 m and that factor may have also played a part in an aggressive start of the race.
Based on all of the above in my opinion the Canadian should’ve bided his time in the early going and then moved through. Difficult to fight for space with two very respectable runners with a very respectable 800 m times in the 1:47-1:48 range. That is a battle Mo cannot win.
