Possibly the fastest ever heir to the Saxon throne

Watching the race yesterday, I thought that she resembled a typical 49/1:51 type male runner in physique and form. I just don't see how she doesn't get down to 1:53 which would be slow for a male with her speed. I realize that women are different but she has the size of a male which makes me think that she will more closely resemble their time ratios.

Was just on the phone with a former teammate who's been a consultant in the industry for over two decades - says NIKE is primed to start at $500k/year for Mu, says adidas may go very high.

You do not understand the sport. Improving by nearly 5 seconds in an 800m is almost unheard of for a collegiate woman who is already well trained. She could break 1:55 one day but she will never run 1:52xx. She does not have the talent to do that.

Every hear of the Schweizer family? Parents and grandparents were college runners and they coached the kids from a young age. They sent the kids to a large private school that has one of the premier running programs in the midwest. Ryan ran 1:50/4:04 in high school and went to Notre Dame. Karissa was a multi time NCAA champ and National record holder at 3k. Kelsey is a sophomore in college who has already dropped 7 seconds off her 800 time. There are no better trained HS runners than the Schweizer kids.

Irrelevant for Athing. I mean she will not improve 5 seconds from now, meaning her current fitness as a well trained collegiate.

She doesn't have talent for that? She might be the most talented mid distance runner ever. Perfect body build paired with a perfect stride. 1:57 as a 18 year old and not even a pro yet. New shoes, new pacing tech and she gonna get that WR in the next years. A clean one at that as well.

That's a good insight. Therefore in the next 10 years Athing Mu can focus herself on getting that 400m down to 48s while also building strength which should make it possible.

Pamela Jelimo didn't run 48s but managed a 1:54.01, so strength based fast 800m is definetely possible.

Will be interesting when she decides to. No doubt she could sign a deal before the trials, but very possible she stays at A&M. All through HS she ran club and was pretty much on her own all the time. This is the first time she is part of a real team and seems to really e enjoying it. Might be enough for her to stay

Recognize that 1:53 and 47.99 were run by male-T athletes. They shouldn’t even be mentioned in relation to Mu at this point.

Look at the lead that Busey had in that race...and look at his legs and azz, such absolute solidity. Ran throuhh the line like the machine that he was, never broke form even slightly.

THAT is nothing to aim for. It was embarrassing.
