Hi, want to give you the courtesy of an update, though it may not be all good news. In summary, my current running is a bit in limbo.
My Garmin was telling me I was in 'super shape'. On July 29, it actually got as high as saying my VO2max is 57, and 5k Race Predictor is 18:38!! But I was suspect it went off the rails. It seemed to really like it when I ran miles faster than my very easy pace, which I'll call 'steady pace'. It liked it when I ran mileage at +130bpm (~8:40/mile) versus at 118-120bpm (~10:10bpm). I strung together some days of the former, without any workouts, and it kept showing improvement in VO2max. Now granted, maybe my running economy is better at 8:40 pace versus 10:10 pace, but the Race Predictor times seemed to be getting way too optimistic.
When it registered a VO2max of 56 and Race Predictor of 18:51 for the 5k, after a week of 'steady pace' running, I had to go to the track to find out just how much I had improved. I didn't get through a complete 4x4min workout without straining my left hamstring. That issue, and some other 'niggles' are giving me pause on where to go from here.
Hope your PF heals up, and you can enjoy your running. Peace.
