I have followed Gwen over the years because I was big into tri's at the time she was dominating. I thought she was just training 5/10 ks to develop speed. But is she legit trying to switch to 5k as her thing? Like is her new goal the 5k? Or is this still part of the "olympic gold marathon" pursuit? Has she clearly defined this anywhere? Just curious.
She answered a comment on a recent YouTube video, and said the marathon is still her goal. She has been VERY careful I’ve noticed in the past few years in stating goals to the public. I’m pretty sure she won’t do that anymore after the huge flub with the marathon. Jerry is probably just telling her to try for the 5k and 10k olympic team, and hope for the best. She’s going to be 35 though and has no been training for the marathon. I think she’s bonkers if she thinks she’ll medal in the olympics in the marathon or anywhere else tbh. The older she gets the less apt she is at handling big volume.
anyone have any idea why BTC keeps her around? Maybe it doesn't cost them anything (if she's kit only), but I'm sure there are tons of runners who would also accept that deal who are faster, younger, and with more potential. I know people say "exposure" because of her large following, but do BTC and Nike really need exposure? Seems like Jerry has a soft spot for her. She sees like a hard worker and likable, but is that enough in an elite training group?
Jerry and Gwen have a relationship from college, that’s why he allowed her to train in the first place. She just ran 15:08 in the 5k though and she is planning to make the Olympic team lol I just posted about that to get an updated list to see what her chances are.

I mean potentially. You often see in other sports that teams will take on a vet who might be not as good as they once were, might not be a starter etc but have good attitudes, championship winning experience, are role models etc. I noticed that when she ran that 15:08, almost all the BTC women had a big positive reaction on social media. Seems she is liked and respected within the team. If she contributes positively to the group and is independent enough that she doesn't suck Jerry's attention too much I could see it being worthwhile not to disrupt that. Particularly right before an Olympic year when the team has just lost two older/more mature veteran influences in Ryan Hill and Kate Grace.

Gwen is a rockstar. She was best in the world at something and had the courage to try something new. She’s an awesome mom. And her team mates love her. So f U everyone negative. Making A Olympic standard in track is an unbelievable accomplishment. And I do Gwen gives two cents about these rude trolls who only say things in a chat room but would ask for her autograph in person. Get a life you negative clowns.

We’re pissed about her narcissism stating that she would win gold in an event she’s never competed before. The disrespect is real, especially to all the women who have been running professionally their entire careers and never came close to gold.
She should at the very least say she’s humbled attempting to race competitively in the US pro circuit, but she’s going to act like she’s too good for that.
