Centro will be running the 5000 at the Trials.
These kids think they're the best ever? Well, they did just both smash the NCAA record by about 1.5 seconds. That makes them pretty good. The third place Oregon guy only ran 3:53(!!) and then ran 1:45.5 Oregon record the next day. The national titles are surely on their way. This Oregon team also ran a huge college record of 9:19 with Hocker at 2:49 and Teare at 3:54. They can have their fun. No Olympians just yet, but surely on the way.

1500 - I don't think a guy with a 149 pb (teare) is making the team here.
5k - Tear'es best bet is in the 5k. Kid is STUDLY. But if Centro is in good enough shape to make the 5000 team (sub-1305) then he'd clearly be in good enough shape to make the 1500 team.

I kinda see both sides of this. I think the Carter comment was really meant to be a joke, but I also understand where Centro is coming from. This new crop of Oregon guys are REALLY feelin' themselves (their Youtube, Instagram captions, Podcast appearances), and they straight "disrespect" Centro & Oregon alum to the point where it is no longer joking. After the 5k in December where Centro edged Hocker, they made comments, including on Instagram and on a Podcast (Teare said things like, 'He snaked Cole. Well, Centro raced in a t-shirt. So I guess he should've won'). Centrowitz IS the Olympic Champion, and it shocks me that this current group of Oregon guys is bashing him instead of showing respect to a guy that showed that their system worked (HS Champ, College Champ, Olympic Champ), but what ever floats their boat.
That being said-- Centro IS the Olympic Champion, and if he really wanted to clap back, he should've done it in a mature way. His comments about them not respecting the Oregon Alum/dynasty and not really winning anything yet were valid, but it just came off so wrong. That being said-- these kids can't keep poking the bear and them play victim like "OMG! He is so petty. He is too old to be clapping back at us." (Definitely see this all the time on Tik Tok).
I've always been intrigued by the Cooper Teare & co. track generation. Since their "Nike Elite Camp Days", these guys are always d***eating each other (just my opinion), and that was their Youtube in a nutshell. Cooper, Hocker, Hunter, and Reed Brown are insanely talented, and this weekend was an insane breakthrough for them in the NCAA, but I also see Centro's perspective. It would be like him beating Bernard Lagat and Andrew Wheating as a college kid at USAs in 2011, and then him going online and talking sh*t. You gotta respect the guys who came before you.

as a walk-on in a different era but with similarly elite teammates (multiple NCAA titles, Olympic berths, etc)... I kind of agree with Centro's point of view. That stuff would never have flown on my team and frankly I'm amazed the coaching staff lets the Oregon guys have the type of social media presence they do.
but it IS a different era and the flip side is I enjoy the hell out of the Ben Crawford videos and seeing the personalities involved.
Centro certainly didn't need to take the bait here and I wish he hadn't, he just ends up looking silly.

Centro is definitely a bit of a hothead I think. There was a tweet thread about if tyreek hill/other nfl receivers could compete in the olympics and centro came at a ton of people full throttle saying they were wrong and there was no way nfl receivers could compete with olympic sprinters.
It’s impossible to find an Oregon runner of the last couple decades that’s not socially awkward as hell. No one that you’d want to hang out with. Grad transfers excluded.

I don’t understand a defense of Centro. Would Tom Brady write a novel of a response if some Michigan player tagged him in a Shea Patterson highlight clip? No, because he’s got better sh!t to do.
