What did Seth DeMoor do at the 5 mile mark of Saturday's half that he isn't proud of

I think he thought he could podium and run in the 1:04’s and not was around mile 5 when a couple guys started to pull away from him. He just realized he didn’t have the speed/was going all out in the group but others were just coasting and had another gear

He just put the reason - embarrassed he littered at the 5M aid station.. he just didn't see a garbage can or bag and threw it on the grass.

I think the issue was with the sizing. He went half size down compared to his previous pair and probably damaged a nail badly around the 5 mile mark perhaps in a corner. The upper of the Next% is sort of problematic at least for my nails and I wouldn't buy smaller shoes.

that was a good interview. Also the Taco Bell question was a great one compared to that Andy stuff. I've never heard of Andy's and don't know what custard is.

Now that you mention it, I was under the impression that custard was a healthier alternative to ice-cream, but that may not be the case, since the former is like the latter, except the former must also contain 1.4% pasteurized egg yolk (per the FDA).

He mentioned in the interview that his favorite custard is something with pie. It cannot be like icecream because nobody uses pie to make icecream. I don't know. Sounds very weird or maybe we here in Europe just don't get it.

Custard is like ice cream, but a thicker, creamier texture because of the extra egg yolk in it. Key lime is a flavor of a custard filling (i.e., jello pudding) pie . He said Andy's put actual Key Lime Pie in their key lime flavored custard. I wonder if that includes the pie crust? :-)

I watched that whole interview last night, and was most surprised by Seth letting his guard down a little toward the end, and by his (Seth's) statement that he wouldn't do all, or even more of Colorado's 14-ers or even high 13-ers because some are extreme climbs toward the top.

Then I recalled he ran Long's Peak quite fast. That's no cake walk.

Toned down Seth is much more enjoyable to watch, IMHO. I would rather see this guy than the over excited persona shouting "IN. THE. SHOEDIOOOOOOOO!!!" and "BUTTAH MY BREAD!!!" at random intervals.

Good to see a toned down Seth like another poster said. Kind of like you know he has the killer competitive streak inside, despite the hurray for everything kinda cult following he has developed.

If so, then he is giving some contrived excuses in today's vlog as to why he selected the AlphaFly for his half-marathon tomorrow, but whatever. Maybe it is a bit of denial subconscious thing going on, coming to grips with when he saw those two guys in the Alpha's just cruising along past him at mile 5, before they subsequently blew the pack open.

Just to reiterate, whatever happened at the 5 mile mark of the Naples Half was NOT (as stated in the title of this thread) something that SJD isn't proud of; stating it was something SJD was something he wasn't proud of was a misinterpretation by the OP.

So what was it? What happened? Do we find out tomorrow?

My guess is that Seth pulled a Buddy York at mile 5
