THIS x 1,000. Strava's notion that the "peaceful" protests over the summer were treated with any kind of aggressive force is a myth. The mayors sat back while businesses were burned down and people were injured.

You can have a good app and still be a Trump supporter, you can have a good app and be a Trump hater, these things aren't mutually exclusive.

Some black people can't even go for a run without fearing for their lives. The ability to have a place without politics only exists for white privileged people. That's the liberal reply to white people trying to avoid political conversations.

It is a canned response. Liberals are programmed and have a script that they stick to. "Someone doesn't want to see politics in certain places, tell them that they have white privilege. Remind them that others don't get to escape politics."

"Because of a political ad campaign" ...from a consumer GPS-mapping app. Nothing about this company should be political - they've decided to enter that fray; they'll find out soon enough if it was a positive or a negative.
By the way, don't assume just because a company has a marketing team/consultants that come up with the "data" and "research" to back these campaigns automatically means that they are always successful. Plenty of marketing campaigns are unsuccessful. Coming off the back of Strava's data breach(es?) a few months ago and their perplexing pricing/access model change over the summer, I think they're probably already skating on thin ice. Don't assume management has their s%^& together.
Regardless, they're insulting a portion of their existing consumer base. I can't see how that will help and I don't know how many non/less-serious runners, that they think their reaching out to, will be on-boarded.
I am not assuming anything. The only point to be made is that this is capitalism at work. Don't like it then go to a socialist country.

The trickery is that they left out several very important aspects. They didn't compare the mob of domestic terrorists at the Capitol to the mobs of domestic terrorists in Washington D.C., Portland, Minneapolis, and Detroit. Nor did they compare those who peacefully demonstrated at the Capitol to those who peacefully demonstrated in the aforementioned cities.
From what I can tell, the mobs of domestic terrorists in places like Portland met little resistance when they took over buildings, mobbed, burned, stole, murdered, and seceded from the union, for months. In contrast, the abhorrent act at the capitol, where a woman was shot by police, was over very quickly. Can any of us say her name?
When claims such as Strava's are made, it's up to all of us to scrutinize their statements not just for factual content, but also for what is left out. The legacy media and social media have been twisting information like this for far too long. To echo the cry from left, you have to, "educate yourself."
To lay my cards on the table, I'm a middle aged Mexican-American. This alone shouldn't imply anything about my politics. In fact, I don't have any particular political leanings, but I do try to scrutinize the claims made by both sides. It's worth noting that on message boards and in my private life, those who are on the right tend to encourage me to scrutinize both sides. Those who lean left seem to scold me a lot for looking into facts, motivations, and half-truths.

Part of capitalism and an open market is the decision of consumers to purchase/not purchase. In this case, I'm making the decision to not purchase and voicing my reasons why. Others can take the information provided and make their own decision. An informed marketplace is a vital component of capitalism.

This argument misstates the facts. I'd suggest you can be true to the facts or true to your politics, but not both. I live in Minneapolis, and the "riots" in Minneapolis was about a 5 day event that saw the police tactics shift over time. During the first couple days, the police and mayor had underestimated the situation and generally retreated (e.g., they abandoned the third precinct). I believe they used tear gas, riot gear and riot shields, but did not fire rubber bullets. This is similar to how we saw the U.S. Capitol police retreat and seem to let the protestors into the building.
But on days 3-5, the Minneapolis Police's tactics shifted and became much more militant and agressive. For instance, they formed a line, marched through neighborhoods, and fired rubber bullets at protestors, journalists, and innocent bystanders. This seems similar to the tactis used by the US Capitol and DC police when they took back the Capitol building.
So when you - and Strava - compare the tactics used by the Capitol police, and those used by the Minneapolis police, specify the timeframe involved. Both police forces were at times passive and retreated, and both forces were aggressive and violent at times. And I don't mean to call into question the tactics used by either force, as I"m not an expert in police tactics.
