The starter was Dick Connors. He's been telling me to tuck my shirt in since I first saw him at teh K-Bell track meet in 1987.
K-Bell meet? Now you're dating yourself...you might as well have brought up the Bruce Jenner Classic.
speaking of dating oneself, did anyone see this month's Runner's World, page 91? The guy's wearing an old Hoy's Sports 5000 meter classic tshirt, circa 1980-something. I still sport my Hoy's 10,000 meter classic shirt.
Nice to see Rich Hanna back into the mix of things! Top master at 15:26!
could we arrange some sort of mascot 5k? Personally I think Zippy would kick the Banana Man's ass.
Great, I will put up my Turkey from the Turkey Beach Trot (http://www.turkeybeachtrot.com) for the Battle of the Mascots 5K. I assume there will be a Clydesdale or race walking division?

Watch out on that, see the post before yours. I have seen Rich Hanna dressed up as both a carrot and chicken this year.
the bulls at the running of the bulls in palo alto would also make for some speedy mascots. those bulls are so cocky, they gave the rest of us a 3 minute headstart last year!
i think nicole teter was one of da bulls last year. fun race.
There is a mascot race at Paso Robles this weekend. I know the bananas will be there and I know Rich will be there (timing), someone tell him to bring the chicken suit.
I think the Carrot suit would be more appropriate, I mean who really wants to see a chicken race a banana? Now a carrot vs. a banana, at least we know they are in the same ballpark! Zippy probably falls somewhere in between animal and vegetable, so I think it's be fair to let him in on the race. Plus his head is kind of phallus shaped, so it would fit in with the overall theme.
I wonder if Rich has a cow suit yet? He does have that Cowtown Marathon coming up. How does that fit the theme?

Yea, she tried to get eligibility for another track season,b ut when they denied her a redshirt both her and Hall decided to go pro. Big hit for Stanford. They wuold have had both for outdoor track if not for the NCAA denying Bei anotehr season. NCAA not Hall/Bei who missed out big on that one...
is there a local chicken race? what race does he wear that for?
across the bay has that 'can of nuts' running around--does that count as a mascot, even though it's not an animal? might as well throw in the token naked mascots from bay to breakers too.

JEEEEEZUS!! As the former race director/founder of Hoy's 10,000 meter Classic , this stuff truly amazes me...that being said, we had some pretty damn good racing going on back then, eh??

Whatever, I'm just kidding. But I get if Brad is pissed that someone's posing as "6th place". But like I said, he's now 5th so maybe the poster was Moreno.
nope. i'm not "6th place". regardless of my feelings about what happened, i'd never come on here and talk shit about bolota like "6th place" did. nor would i personally file a protest in this situation (to move from 7th to 6th?!), even if there was jamba juice (or money) to gain.
chad, trust me, there's no ill will.
bryce, you're a cheap bastard! nobody's gonna buy your jamba juice card.

there should be a series of vintage races, where race blasts from the past are revived. it's worked for the cable car chase. for notsalgia's sake, bring back the hoy's classic--i ran my 10K PR there!
ive heard rumors that hook n ladder may be headed to that great big track in the sky. say it aint so.

yup, we may well have seen the final Hook and Ladder 10K...as a former race winner (what? 1981 or something like that?) it just breaks my heart
just gotta create some new "classics" along the way I guess

If the Napa Run still give the Sutter Stuff out, Ill go with the Juice. The year Ashfield won, we couldnt finish the stuff. Ugh.

The Fair Oaks Fiesta 5M it was May 1st this year. Just about the only hilly race in the Sacramento area. Believe it or not I won. It has a chicken/rooster theme because in the starting area there are like 30 roosters in the middle of downtown Fair Oaks. He wore the carrot suit for the Nutrition Fuels 5-A-Day in Elk Grove, I won that too. Man maybe Rich's races are good luck for me.
