finally the Iranians are rising up and protesting.
Oooops, they are pro government. and lots of women, strangely.
Can trump do nothing right?
i think the only thing left to do is take out Kharg island and say without regime change, the whole energy infrastructure is next. and he has to committ assets to opening the strait. good luck with the neighbouring energy infrastucture in that case. Iran must be threatening desalinisation plants - that is the nuclear option.
trump has to take the initiative.
But it is one hell of a risk and he should never have let it come to this. it is his boasting that has screwed this up. if he had done some surgical strikes and then left, like before, it would have been ok, but no, he went too far and boasted of achievements he hadnt made.
If Trump and Co. had a viable military option to end this thing they would have deployed it weeks ago. As it is, I'm sure all discussion within the admin is trapped inside a loop between Trump's need to avoid the appearance of strategic defeat and Iran's continued ability to strike back.
This kind of strategic paralysis is not uncommon, but it's beyond insane that it's the fear and narcissism of a single man that's responsible for it.
It turns out that everything is now exactly as it seems-- elect a leader who cares only about personal adulation and money (followed closely by getting laid, though those days are gone) and you will get a leader who destroys the country in the pursuit of personal adulation and yet more money. No other theory or analysis is really needed (though the power of the Israel lobby is worth considering too).
