Anyone betting on the return of Bitcoin to glory has to be shocked with today’s move. Is that slide on the Bankman-Fried crypto merger deal?
No idea, but it is revisiting its 52 week low apparently. It doesn't seem to want to drop below that level.
Bad day for me as not only did my ETFs betting against the market take a good hit but my majro stock holding in oil was down and my relatively small holding of bitcoin took such a beating it was my #2 $$ loser for the day.
Holding 12 stocks and ETFs. Five up, seven down -- not so bad. But my biggest six holdings were all down. And the seven that are down have more than 90% of my $$ invested in stocks and ETFs
Sometime it feels like someone is out there looking to screw you.

You notice how the hipster crypto posters faded into the sunset. One of several scams created by excess liquidity and zero real interest rates.
Musk was always a dishonest carnival barker. One only has to look at the Solar City merger to get a picture of the snake eyes. Besides, Tesla has always been an overvalued hype stock.EMD having a good day with falling dollar, FAX off a little today, after a good week.
He’s a odd bird…no one should discount his accomplishments. Spacex and Tesla are extraordinary companies that are best in the world. He built them from scratch. who builds a best-in-class car company? One friggin guy. but being so rich has unmoored him.
sure Tesla is over valued by a ton. But that’s not his fault. and he takes advantage of government contracts and tax breaks. Doesn’t detract much.
Dumped the few shares I had of Tesla earlier this morning, as I can't stand Musk's views and management style. Glad I did and stock continues to drop from when i bailed.

this is a real thing....both tesla sales and tesla stock have been held up by coastal tech/green folks who like the idea of green cars. These people lean left. Is Musk going to make owning a Tesla as poison to lefties as owning an F150?
This is serious. Brands have been politicized and Musk seems to be alienating his main car-buying audience. Stock too. I don't think the F150 trumpies will start buying little electric cars to make up the difference.

As interest rates move toward a market rate Musk’s empire does not work nearly as well. Perhaps becomes increasingly vulnerable. I assume he will be forced to sell more TSLA shares as time goes on.
Vast majority of my stocks/ETFs are in ETFs betting against the market and those are doing quite well today. +4.2% for the biggest one and + 1.6% and 2.1% for the next two.
But my stocks with much less money invested in them are getting so killed I am flat for the day.
OIl stock down 5.3%, Tesla down 6%, and small bitcoin holding down over 15%.
Even with the bitcoin holding being less than 10% in value vs. MY biggest ETF, it i still wiping out 1/3rd of my gain on that ETF.
The last 2 (3?) days, it seems my particular stocks have been the biggest losers out there

Yes, and he handles his affairs abysmally. Besides his views, which i do not support, he blurs the lines between that and his company management. He handled the whole twitter transaction like more of something he was forced into through bumbling than anything he chose to want, and the whole thing was a cluster.
Here's the thing, it will surely only get worse now that he is at the helm of a very challenging company in a sector fraught with insurmountable problems (public media co. Twitter). How many gyrations do share holder, who hate uncertainty by all acounts, want to endure?
Good point about the declared vehement anti-Dem stance he championed yesterday and how that will repel left leaning EV potential buyers. But really, I don't care if that is his personal views. I do care very much when he uses his position as head of these two companies to espouse them. That was very bad management and not worthy of where my investment dollars should be.

That may be true if the economy stabilized. If we have a severe recession all this nonsense goes out the door and companies will be forced to make straightforward business decision. None of this catering to political whims.

Gee.
I did not know Musk is such a dummy
Genius has little to do with behavior. Most of the tech CEOs have been two faced about their behavior, personally or otherwise. Power does that.

I don't really follow Twitter and own a lot of Tesla but mainly in mutual funds. You are very critical of Musk now and his anti-Dem stance now but you were fine when Twitter banned Trump but still allowed the Taliban to post on Twitter? That was fine and dandy with you?

I think that is fair. Musk was once the darling of the left. Tech miracle and all. When he spoke out against the woke madness, and double dealing he became a villain.

I was fine with Twitter policing its forum in a responsible way so as to not allow the spread of misinformation. That is what i would expect.
I don't know what you are referring to regarding Taliban content, but I bet someone that often frequents this thread does...
Twitter just went downhill in terms of a viable company.
Tesla will continue to suffer from an erratic, unpredictable leader.
Looking for a good entry point to short it going forward.

Up $120! Woo, woo.
Down $11k+ for the week so far.
Bets vs. marked end up 4.76%, 2.04%, and 2.38% -- very nice
But oil stock, Tesla, and bitcoin continued to fall thru the day and ended up down 6.4%, 7.2%, and 17%!!
