They probably don't exist, but it wouldn't mean Trump is a liar. He has never confirmed or denied the existence of tapes.
But if they do exist, I don't think there is much of a legal question. This was all hashed out in the Supreme Court during Watergate. If they exist, Trump hands them over. At that point, he would be toast.
I'm interested to see how republican support for Trump is starting to crumble on the edges.
The big polls show some sliding...was 90%, now is c80%.
So it's begun, but not huge. Independents are now widely opposed to the president, but repubs are only stepping off the trump train on the margins.
This sort of thing is interesting to me - talking just about the reluctant trump voters - the ones who really don't like him but probably were in the 'anyone but hillary' camp. Of that group, only 26% would still vote for Trump.
If that sort of thing starts to snowball, trump's approval would get toward 30 and impeachmetn would be possible.

But one party has control of the country right now and their priorities are themselves.

you have to be careful when you say things like that - the other side legit believes they are right. They legit feel that the rich pay too much in taxes, that gov't interference in healthcare is a mistake, that food stamps are a bad idea, that public education is fundamentally an error, that the US should not engage in foreign aid, etc...
it sounds to rational people that these ideas are crazeballs, but they believe them.
So saying that the right wingers are out just for themselves isn't really true. They see themselves as the last roadblock to turning the US into Venezuela or that sort of wrecked nation.
House and Senate members from BOTH parties looking into the Trump trainwreck now want Trump's memos and the tapes he makes. He'll say he has no such thing, of course, then it will get even uglier.
I'd rather have this freakshow over Pence, but I'm afraid the end is very near for King Cheetoh.

funny, this looks like a correction. They use the word correction. They say their reporting was wrong.

The way this works is that journalists have to get almost everything right. THey aren't expected to get 100% right, but pretty close to that. When they get things wrong, they fix them. If they get too much stuff wrong, they lose credibility. Obviously we aren't anywhere near there, in the real world, outside the fevered dreams of the right wing.

Yea, he's probably lying. Even Trump's idiot lawyer wouldn't be dumb enough to let him testify. But maybe he'll do it if somebody points out how HUGE the ratings will be.
You can't make this sh*t up. His lawyers can spin it any way they want, but Trump is arguing that he should legally be allowed to accept bribes from foreign governments.
