Fairly certain I saw Mo, formerly of the Running Channel, at Sydney Marathon today. Seemed to be running a bit slower than 3 hours. It was either him or the spitting image.
Mo posted on strava saying he took easy day shoes and used it as a long run for Chicago. So probably was him you saw.

Ran it in 2:54 - unsure how this fits in with a plan to go sub 2:30 in Berlin
Mary McCarthy finally got her sub 3 in Sydney. She went through halfway in 1:29:44 and finished in 2:55:29, so she ran a 4 minute negative split too. Credit where credit is due, after her pacing disaster in London she clearly learned to not go out too hot. She pretty much paced it too perfection. Even splits from the start up to 30k then got faster every 5k.
It's good she got her goal; however, to me, she is the epitome of everything wrong with the wide spread manifestation of social media.
An entitled posh kid filming herself training and travelling full-time. Why do kids want to engage with utter s**t? No wonder there is a rise in mental illness.
Nothing to do with running, but this youtuber is done with talking about products he doesn’t believe in, saying he’ll now be able to sleep at night etc. I wonder if Kofuzi will ever make a video like this? Ha ha, I very much doubt it.

I wonder if he was working. Seems nuts to travel from the summer in Europe to run a long run session in a marathon major.
Also, to run it in "easy day shoes". At least run some of it at MP - do a propper dress rehearsal.

you don't have to like or engage with her content but if you can't see how she would be a positive influence on younger women i think you should take some time to reflect on things
Do you think most of the bigger running influencers. Especially the more established ones who have been around a while are beginning to get a bit jealous of RanToJapan?
He is literally everybody’s favouring running YouTuber at this stage… and his results are also miles beyond nearly every run tuber too apart
Speaking of 💉💉💉💉 Truett Hanes just placed first in his marathon! Yay JUUIIICCEEE.
Just look at the faces of the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in that podium photo.
*Sings* one of these things just doesn't belong heeerrrees
USADA really ought to out of competition that jerk and make an example of him and the brands that sponsor him with a press release that says, "Truett Hanes, an influencer sponsored by....tested positive for, x, y, z anabolic steroids."
Ben Felton is disappearing right up his own arse. I kick myself for watching it and adding to his views. ‘This is where it all began’, ‘I started documenting my own story’, etc, like he’s some king of the sport. Crikey. Who does he think he is??!
Hell I'm jealous of RanToJapan. I wish I had the genetics to allow me to run over 200 km per week.
200km+/week is special genes territory, but I think a lot of people can do 120km-140km long term without negative effects. Given that they slow the pace a bit and it's not all on asphalt. It's just a lot of time (doubles) and commitment.

BIR Chicago block is being sponsored by some online shoe selling company and in partnership with Nike who sent him loads of shoes presumably to train and race in.
Yet in the Stockholm half video he’s wearing Adidas and there’s lot of camera shots of that brand
Surely it loses all allure for a company when an influencer isn’t exclusive to them? It kind of shows he doesn’t have a personal preference and will just run in whoever gives an offer. Doesn’t make me want to buy anything he plugs

$3,000 for a video with roughly the same audience size as Kofuzi, though the marketers probably think Kofuzi has better demographics. So $3-$5k a video for Kofuzi. His Runna contract was ~10 videos, so I bet about $50k off of that. Plus whatever Sport Tours is paying him. Plus whatever Rabbit is paying him. Dude probably makes well over $200k.

Believe RTJ remains (at least for now) more appealing cause he still sees himself first and foremost a professional runner (or earlier, trying to go professional) and structures his content and lifestyle accordingly for that - the stuff people appreciates. believe he had said before that the YouTube is secondary and a way to help him go Pro, but, if it jeopardizes the running career he will drop it for/ prioritize the running.
also, his degree in Sports Marketing always helps. (+deadpan humor)
for a lot of the rest, it's pretty clear that the 'Runfluencer' lifestyle takes priority and therefore so much focus on shills and other advertising efforts. Nothing too wrong with that and to each their own in trying to make a living, but it leads to a lot of their content becoming very sponsor/marketing aligned and being perceived as unauthentic
He tried to frame the story of his video about how he started running in Stockholm, but let's be honest, if he was offered a sponsored trip to Sydney, he would never have even thought about going to Stockholm. And yea, the whole wearing different kits for different sponsored trips whilst still shilling prodirect as a retailer is so damn confusing for anyone watching his god awful content.
