Is that really what you guys are advocating? Let the Mexicans et al. commit the crime of migration, but don't deport them until after they commit a second crime in America? That seems backwards azz nuts. I thought you guys were trying to deport Mexicans BEFORE they killed people like Mollie Tibbetts. That made sense. But between the absurd sanctuary farms Trump created and what you are saying now about multiple crimes, I think you MAGAs have completely lost the plot on what you once said you allegedly were trying to do.
Of course not, we start with the ones who are criminals beyond breaking the illegal entry. We have about 20M to round up so need to put the resources into the felons first. Wait till the big show starts. But, if you would have read the book, you will realize that nothing matters unless you win. so why barrel thru the benigns door until we need to?
The Art of the Deal lays everything out nicely for you. Simple and easy to read.
I'm well aware that nothing matters unless you win. I live my life by the that principle and the Geneva Bible (V. 2). I've read the Art of the Deal several times. Picked up some good bashing tips.
My point was, Trump is full of sh!t on deporting Mexicans and Mexican-adjacents. He created the country's first sanctuary farms. Ditto sanctuary hotels. He sends ICE agents to Minnesota -- there are more Mexicans in one square mile of East LA or Miami than in the entire state of Minnesota for the last ten years. Deporting migrants doesn't seem to be the goal here. And now with you and Discog pointing out the fact that the (1) Democrats deported at least 3 times the numbers that Trump tries to and (2) that Trump, unlike the Dems, waits until the Mexicans commit FURTHER crimes before going after them, normal people can't help but believe you guys are either incredibly vulnerable to media spectacle or totally full of sh!t.

A person can also believe two things at the same time:
1. that was not the smartest course of action, protestor. 2. in spite of your error, you are not the one ultimately responsible for your death, protestor.
Sorta like: 1. There are protestors and organizers who are seeking conflict in this situation, some of whom are relatively callous about the loss of life. 2. There are members of the administration who are seeking conflict in this situation, some of whom are relatively callous about the loss of life.
— but as much as I’ve disliked it, there have always been fools and knaves across the political spectrum in the world I inhabit. I can’t get rid of them generally. But there is one set of fools and knaves I have a say in. They are in the government.
— A DeSantis administration would not be taking this course. A Rubio administration would not be taking this course. A Harris administration would have blundered its way through a number of problems that would be held in check by a Republican Congress and would also have a series of feelings that would be short-lived and reversible. I’m concerned about things we see right now that are going to be hard to reverse.

lol
Because right now he’s dealing with a much worse group that has infiltrated our tax system to support pirates. They aren’t working. Mexicans work and drink so they aren’t prioritized at the moment. The Democrats have built a Somalian community in our country that has far reaching tentacles. So, we will end this first. slow the roll runk .
MAGA wants to deport 20 million immigrants. They're trying to round up 3,000 people per day. At that rate, it will take more than 18 years to achieve their goal.
They have about 2,700 agents in Minneapolis right now. Another 1,500 troops could be added if Donald Trump applies the Insurrection Act. That's 4,200 armed people to conduct immigration operations in America's 46th largest city. Apply that ratio to other American cities and you're looking at about 68,000 soldiers and agents in New York City, 32,000 in Los Angeles, and 22,000 in Chicago. Across the top 50 cities in the country, that's at least 376,000 armed people.
I agree with the lack of training not being the main issue. It is mostly about Trump’s intentions and the feeling of impunity that they have clearly tried to hand the agents. Although that doesn’t mean that lack of training can’t make things worse, nor that commenting on that doesn’t make sense.
However, so as not to hand the fascists any ammunition, recommend not mentioning training with respect to the Good murder. That guy had plenty of training and experience (both military and ICE). Training wasn’t the issue. He is a shi*ty human being with training and experience who very likely went to work that morning with a sense of impunity. Just like, one would assume, lots of other current ICE agents.
I think you guys are underestimating the power of fear and adrenaline during armed street fights.
when cops are outnumbered by aggressive protesters, it’s very easy for cops to feel threatened and in serious danger.
these guys let the fear lead them to very bad decision making.
Seasoned cops who have been in that situation before are better able to tame the adrenaline and not resort to deadly force.
these ice guys…are not that
I have little doubt that the dynamics above apply to some people in some situations. But as far as what we're currently seeing from ICE - and particularly the 2 murders - I think that it mostly doesn't apply. Quick thoughts:
- Again, the Good shooter had a lot of experience and training. The only counter to that might be that his military experience (especially) and ICE training/experience didn't prepare him terribly well for the policing situation that morning with Good.
- I don't think that either of the 2 murder situations are very well-described by your bolded words above. People around on sidewalks, but not a big, close, immediate crowd during the 2 incidents. In the Good situation, it was only immediately Good and her wife. With Pretti, it appeared to mostly just be him and the 2 women (who, at the end, could barely even stand up on the ice and snow and I don't think were making any agents terribly nervous). And in both situations, agents outnumbered the civilians.
- As I said, the dynamics you describe above no doubt apply SOME of the time. But between what I'm guessing is a fair number of experienced ICE agents who are enjoying being tough guys, a bunch of new, poorly-trained ICE agents enjoying being tough guys, and both of those groups being told very explicitly that they're immune from consequences, I think that right now, in Mpls, at least, they're mostly just enjoying being tough guys, and especially when they're not in significant crowds of protestors, as was obviously the case in the 2 murders.
- Lastly, it was not until later today that I realized that a number of the (up to 10?) shots were taken AFTER that group of agents had stood up and backed up from the victim. At least one of the agents appears to be standing in that line abreast group of agents pumping bullets into his isolated body lying 6-8 feet away. Virtually impossible for me to see that in anyway explained by agents being in a scrum and reacting poorly. It looks much more like a simple firing squad.
“All of the sources support the mass deportation agenda, but have serious hesitations about the way it is being carried out and the messaging that comes with it. Many of the sources have expressed frustration that ICE is routinely blamed for the actions of Border Patrol, a completely separate agency.”
it’s why you don’t put bad people in power, and the people who’ve always been making idiotic comments about others clutching their pearls at “mean tweets” always failed to recognize that those were the most innocuous symptoms of a man rotten to the core.
Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office investigators and deputies arrested Kenneth Moreno Guzman, 26, Jan. 15 for allegedly invading a family’s mobile home early Monday, Jan. 12, raping an 11-year-old girl and holding her and her 10-year-old sister at knifepoint. Guzman claimed, “he was attracted to her.” He entered the country illegally from Mexico.

If memory serves, "Character matters" was a favorite refrain from Republicans for a long time. You know, Clinton BJs in the WH, and all. That, of course, if it EVER meant anything, was seen to be complete BS when they nominated Trump way back in 2016. And that basement has, of course, been re-dug many, many times since then.
Regarding "mean tweets," I can imagine a few groups:
- Those who sincerely, if completely irresponsibly, manage to ignore the fact that those "tweets" reflect the rotten person.
- Those who completely understand just how rotten he is, and absolutely LIKE the rottenness.
- Theoretically, members of both of those groups could think that you can put a rotten person in charge and still be insulated from much of his rottenness. Of course, even before Trump, that would be an incredibly stupid thing to assume given what any American SHOULD have understood about the power of the president and the executive branch. But were a lot Americans that stupid in the 2015/2016? Of course.
But also, of course, every single one of them lost that excuse since Trump started SHOWING them how much rottenness a rotten president can get away with. Culminated in 1.0 by the election theft attempt, and coming like a firehouse every day during 2.0.

1. Being a cop in an angry crowd is absolutely terrifying. Anyone can have a gun or throw a rock at your head.
2. The one thing all cops know is that you don’t shoot someone once in the legs and think you are safe. Once you think there is a theat to your life, you empty your magazine into the perp to make sure he can’t hurt you anymore. what’s unclear is if the cops didn’t understand he was already disarmed. Not sure why they started shooting if they know he was disarmed.
I almost appreciate how Trump has exposed how vacant every single high profile conservative belief was: free speech, states’ rights, letting the market decide, NATO, right to bear arms, democracy, all of it. It’s been an empty, malicious political project for decades and decades
In Iraq if I disarmed an Insurgent then shot him I would be breaking rocks at Leavenworth. There needs to be accountability for this one 100% and more training until then get them away from the public because so far all I see is needless escalation.
