Israel is wanting to launch a massive "ceasefire" attack in Lebanon, but is currently being held back by the Trump administration. And by "ceasefire" attack, I am referring to Israel's practice of launching a massive one last blast attack before agreeing to a ceasefire. Israel has been bombing Gaza repeatedly in what looks like a back door channel to submarining the peace process with Iran.
Another slap fight broke out with the US launching attacks on Iranian missile sites along the Strait. Reports are that an Iranian speed boat opened fire on a US naval vessel, prompting a response from the US. IRGC has promised a response, but nothing so far.
Trump said negotiations were "proceeding nicely" but warned that strikes could resume at any time and that he was growing impatient but also not wanting to rush negotiations.
Aside from the umpteenth pile of bull from Trump, a significant development has been a goal post moving claim from the US that any deal should include a requirement that the Gulf states, including Iran, join the Abraham Accords.
The nuke issue took a turn with a proposal that China take possession of Iran's enriched uranium. That would be a step forward as China does not want to see any nuclear proliferation.
Iranian diplomats are in Qatar for further negotiations. Trump is having a big Nat Sec meeting at Camp David tomorrow to discuss further negotiations and military plans.
The only thing that indicates that a deal might actually happen is the shift from Vance to Rubio on negotiations. Witkoff is still in the mix, but it looks like Rubio is now running the show. Kushner is on vacation with Ivanka. Witkoff and Kushner have been running negotiations like a real estate deal and have been wasting everyone's time. Rubio is no great statesmen, but is smarter than Witkoff (saying very little) and has a political future to look after which Kushner does not. Rubio has sold Iran on his claim that the US would need congressional authorization to resume the war in order to keep Iran engaged in negotiations. But at the end of the day, everything has to be approved by Trump. So, it just depends on who was on FoxNews as to whether any deal gets approved.
