I myself as young ran 2:22:09 ( twice on the second! ) in Stockholm marathon on a difficult course with a method quite the same as the Dancan system of today.
Evidence that Dancan doesn't work as you say it does. You couldn't even run 1 second faster.
On the track Mota had 4:23/9:04/15:22/32:46. Much slower than J.S - a 8:20/14:20/29:50 elite. It's quite astonishing that Mota became a 2:23 marathon runner (J.S was a 2:22 guy) with those relatively modest track times all things considered. Many Japanese women (2:21:00-2:24:00) have similar profiles (15:30-15:40/32:30-32:50)
Mota's advantage was always keeping a whippet thin physique which helped her to age well partly down to genetics and I suspect iron clad discipline with regard to diet - and this has been difficult for coach JS because he is something of an epicurean (food and drink aficionado) who loves his food and beer/wine. As mentioned previously our beloved coach (J.S.) will have challenges reaching his goal, in my opinion, unless he gets his weight down to below 80 kilograms or around 170 pounds and he is still a fair distance from that at the present time. However, we wish him luck in his endeavors.

Seriously, as my training feels now running sub 20 will be no problem this year. I even have started in my thoughts to aim for the Swedish age group 65+ record 17:13.....
Well , Sirpoc is welcome to my successful online coaching . I'm sure I quite fast get him to run a sub 2:20 . In some coaching cases I have done it only took 2-3 months before my coached runners ran personal bests and won big marathons. I myself as young ran 2:22:09 ( twice on the second! ) in Stockholm marathon on a difficult course with a method quite the same as the Dancan system of today. The main difference I ran slower tempos of 10 -12 k compared to today where the tempos are switched to more ' potent' lactate threshold intervals instead. 🇸🇪🧙♂️🇸🇪
Yes Jan. I'm sure a man who is a british national masters champion, highly respected, wrote a best selling book, coached himself into sub elite in two sports on hobby hours, would love your trashcan system. Exactly what he wants, is to get worse.
Your terrible performance has also deflected from the fact he amongst other legitimate posters, gave you the chance to "showcase" your method by posting up all your runs, training data etc and then a small bet for charity (even if you fail).
But your own arrogance can't even do this. We, of course know this is because 1. You are delusional. 2. A sociopath and 3. You know your training won't get you to anywhere near 20, let alone your bold claims of 17. So, you won't expose yourself.
Your own arrogance and delusions know no bounds. But, you keep ok posting. Retire from the sport. You are too fat and not dedicated to run anymore and you are a cancer and a plague to the coaching industry.

Sir, with all due respect, coach J.S. still has a loyal following, especially in Kenya, where athletes speak about him with reverence.

Well, I'm convinced most readers/ followers of this thread by now of course understand that you my stalker from 11 years ago when I first started to post here at LRC are the same person with multiple handles posting your crap about me here .... 😉
Why don't you start try a constructive dialog here instead of this repeated personal attacks from you ?
And what you claim and spit out has nothing to do to my personality.
And when it comes to my weight I'm not fat, even not obese anymore . I have now normal weight. 😉
During the years here at LRC I have many times thought about what causes in your life made you ' hate' and insult people you even don't know personally?
Well, the outcome of the TT 26:30 min has humbled me now when I see it's not that easy to run a sub 20 min 5 k as I thought it should be after just sporadic running now and then during 26 years after my younger running career. I admit today it feels strange how I so easily could run my easy steady runs up to 48 km @ 4 min/ km ( 6:30 mile pace) back at my prime days.
Well, I will still keep the goal I set up running a sub 20 min 5 k in my mind and try to work off seconds and minutes until I come close or reach it. Anyway it's good I now train frequently and reduce weight and stay more healthy with good endurance.
Atleast when I started this thread it has helped my motivation alot to keep on serious training. 🇸🇪🧙♂️🇸🇪
so which is it? happy with the 26.30 or not?
sounds like typical JS. Uses dancant system to predict 25. goes out at 5/km and blows up.
shouold have just done a flat 26.30 and been happy rather than blow up. But this is classic dancant system. overreaching and blowing up.
Evidence that Dancan doesn't work as you say it does. You couldn't even run 1 second faster.
What a strange comment? 🤔
1) I didn't do the Dancan method back then as I have told.
2) Different weather conditions/ temperatures when the both 2:22:09 races were done.

“Ah, the legendary ‘Quit the Same’ strategy: say something vague, let everyone assume it means something, then deny you ever meant it, brilliantly polysemous and utterly fact-free

It's what I told.I'm pleased with the 26:30 TT , and I didn't start with 5 min / km . It was 5:18 min/ km all the way. 🧙♂️

Well, you omitted my explanation why I didn't do the Dancan system back then and just " quite the same... ". 😉

Letsrun has some ridiculous posts, but this is #1. Nobody and I mean nobody of relevance has a clue in Kenya who Jan is.
Ghost, as others have posted you are perhaps even weirder (seen your Facebook) than Jan. Two very, very strange guys who need their hard drives checked. No doubt.

This is simply not true of course!
All hundreds of Kenyans I have coached now for 11 years of course know who I am. And even some Kenyans who aren't runners but loves the sport knows me. Then my best memory I'm most proud of I literally saved the life of a Kenyan guy I coached and now he has got a great life in South America with wife and family.Only that story on it's own could have been a bestseller book I say. Then you have several Kenyan elites of course knows who I am when I coached them. Even Geoffrey Kamworor and Asbel Kiprop both of course knows who I am even if they probably won't tell you if you ask them.
Well, with running 6 sessions per week, eating mostly only 2 times per day ( lunch and dinner ) and adding fasting sometimes I will reduce my weight even more. It comes naturally .....🧙♂️
