I guess I have some conservative values that are unique in today's world. I completely agree that the Trump charges that he is facing right now are a ridiculous political stunt. It's absolute BS and a product of the weak world we live in.
I believe he should be charged with high treason. If he is found innocent, then we move on, and he will be vindicated.
1) You don't even know what the charges are yet, so how can you have an opinion about them being a political stunt? So far, the number of charges have been reported to be from 2 dozen all the way up to 34. Some of them have been identified as felonies (the word is)...but again, we don't yet know exactly what they are. What is clear is that it is not just the FELONY finance law violation involving Stormy Daniels.
2) What kind of charges against a political person who committed crimes in your opinion would NOT be a "political stunt?"
3) While "high treason" likely won't be the charge, Trump SHOULD be, and I believe WILL be charged with sedition, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and likely some other things related to his behavior related to Jan. 6. I also believe he will be convicted. Whether or not he will be imprisoned is uncertain, but I do believe some of his freedoms will be taken away...he won't be allowed to hold office again, and if not imprisoned in a typical prison, he will be confined to his home, monitored, etc.
He's a dangerous person, and he needs to be convicted.

The culture they created was loved by the whole world throughout the 20th century as seen through the popularity of our sports, entertainment and music. Our values have slipped. The world needs us to be the shining beacon of freedom and Christian values. The America of the 50s through the 80s was the best place for anyone to live in the history of human civilization. We need to get that mojo back. I believe it is already too late and it makes me sad, very sad. THe 2020 election was the watershed moment in the end of America's chances of reestablishing a christian-patriot-based culture.

They weren't intended to interfere with an election, but the left's nationwide BLM riots of 2020 were certainly violent, mobbed, and deliberate interference with law and order and governance in the US. Just because you somehow were convinced there was a justification or excuse for the widespread violence and criminality, doesn't mean the riots weren't substantially equivalent to the January 6th riots in terms of threat to democracy and our system of laws.

On points 1&2 I disagree and firmly believe that this is a sideshow. The country absolutely does not need this right now.
On point 3 I believe he should be brought up on any charges that the evidence they are hopefully collecting direct them to as it involves our national security. I don't care how good a president was or was not while in office if they make an attempt to overthrow the election proceedings of congress.
Even Trump supporters should want him to go to court over this to prove he was not directly involved. If it is found without a shred of doubt that he was attempting to overthrow the proceeding, then trump supporters should turn their backs to him because he is not the guy, they thought he was.

Donald Trump has been indicted because a grand jury agreed that he committed crimes...anywhere from 24 to 34 of them based on reports. We don't decide to not charge a person with crimes because the "country doesn't need this right now." When would the country be ok with charging a criminal for his crimes?

That's inaccurate. Multiple instances where the BLM condoned and encouraged rioting and looting. If Trump can be said to have encouraged the January 6th Capitol attacks with his words and actions, then certainly BLM and others can be said to have done the same regarding the 2020 nationwide riots. Someone deliberately put all that in motion on multiple occasions.

I know exactly what Trump was trying to do with respect to the 2020 election. And I can support an argument that what various entities were trying to do with respect to the 2020 BLM riots, by condoning and encouraging the breakdown of law and order and the use of extortion, violence and fear, was just as dangerous to our democracy as what Trump was orchestrating. The motivations and (bogus) justifications may be different and they may be ones that you buy into for political reasons, but the overall goals were the same.

I have no issue with people in the United States following Christian values, but nothing in the Constitution justifies pushing Christian values. And those on the right should realize that pushing the importance of Christian values with Trump as the tip of your spear weakens your credibility.
