It is perfectly clear why Trump is running for office. His freedom.
What’s not clear to me is why the GOP lawmakers can secretly despise Trump yet they are so damn afraid of him so they bow before him in public. That Mike Johnson Mar A Lago presser was a public humiliation. They are all scared sh!t less of Trump and the ones that weren’t have resigned.
Because if Trump tells the base any one of them needs to be gone they'll get shunned by the GQP and lose their job in the next election. Now if a large enough number of them stood together and rejected Trump he'd be done... sure it would get bloody and the GQP would collapse even faster, but is this slow bleed any better?

Ok. How about these polls? Reuters/Ipsos. TIPP. Marist. Quinnipiac. They all have Biden ahead. Even the Forbes poll shows a tie.
