Regarding "What are the chances he takes Laz or any others on the request for a real sanctioned race?", I say zero chance. By Laz's evaluation, he can be a good long-distance runner, not a great one. What would he get (in the way of fame and recognition) for finishing in the top third of a 6-day race? Nothing. What would he get for even winning such a race? Nearly-nothing. How many people know who holds (and recently set) the American record for the 6-day race? Very few people; very few runners. Probably very view ultra runners, even. Fame comes from stunts (and as has been seen, even with faked-stunts). That's what he wants, not recognition as being a 'good' long-distance runner. ... That's just my opinion of course, maybe I am wrong.

I doubt it. Looks like his biggest claims to fame are personal challenges which are tough to verify such as 373 continuous miles or 420 marathons in a row. Even the Race across America was only against a small handful of others, but was actually used to help accomplish his bigger personal goal of consecutive marathons. So even if he didn't win that, the other goal was accomplished.
He has a lot on his race schedule ahead. Other than Berlin and Chicago Marathons, I know little to nothing about the races on that schedule. Maybe someone else can chime in.

My wife just called me. On her break from work.
She is a waitress down at the Golden Corral. She called to tell me about this athlete and his team that came in and ate so much food.
She describes them and it turns out it was the same runner guy who spent $55 in my firework shop this morning.
Anyways, what I thought you would find interesting is that they were going around offering 300 bucks to any guy who would "run through the entire night alongside an RV."

Settle down. The geezers deserve practically all the credit for putting the stick in his bike spokes. And they were mobilizing before Asher started this thread. Of the folks here, a very small subset of folks, like 113 and asher himself, did a lot of work. Most of lrc did shit except complain.

Have to agree. Graphics and videos were proof enough for runners, but it would not have won the court of public opinion. Only way to prevent the record was to see it stop. Only way it was going to stop was under 24/7 observation holding their feet to the fire to do what they claimed they were doing.
Just curious. On Ulist, did they critique the website or PR's or book? That was done extensively on lrc. Laz certainly let his opinion be known on this attempt in a terse statement that frankly he found the handstands and soccer offensive (which were on the blog). But did ulist critique the book or website?

Not quite there, son. The ultra turtles had been on this guy for a month and nothing happened. LRC gets wind of it, he gets shut down in a matter of days.
If we hadn't scruntinized his claims, gotten this story to the press and put the pressure on, he'd still be riding in the RV enjoying the scenery roll past.
