What difference does it make where people live on what the majority of the population believes? If somebody moves from New York to South Carolina, do they suddenly switch from supporting Biden to Trump? Trump also lost the electoral collage, but that's a bad metric for deciding what the majority of Americans think.
Trump's policies were not as popular as Biden's in 2020 because more Americans agree with Biden's views than Trump's. You can try and exclude whatever subset of the population you want, but it just reeks of desperation.

Now, in your latest article, we see liberal views increasing steadily from 1992 to 2021 and conservative views declining. Well in this polling, no viewpoint has a majority because of the third "moderate" option, in a head-to-head match-up -- like an election where only two viewpoints are available, 7 million more people chose liberal over conservative.
