They both engage in tactics that they know will provoke the other side. It’s both obvious on its own and clear in comparison to historical precedents regarding authoritarian actions and radical opposition. (Even if you don’t consider the administration itself to be authoritarian, a number of its actions and statements are notably and indisputably — for reasonable people — authoritarian, which in the current case moves from merely arresting and deporting violent criminals to exceeding its authority in blatantly strong-armed fashion).

That’s an indirect admission that previous policies were not for “America first” reasons but were undertaken specifically in attempts to win an award.

In any other time, a completely deranged letter to a foreign leader and longtime US ally stating that war was coming because he was not awarded a meaningless prize for “peace” would be a smoking gun. The debate would not be about whether to impeach. It would be between impeachment and the 25th amendment.

Donald Trump linked his claims on Greenland to not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in a letter the US president sent to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.

“Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace,” Trump says in the letter obtained by Bloomberg. “Although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America.”

“The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland,” the US president added.
