I’m sure Pelosi is on the right track: keep following the evidence. Soon enough, just like Nixon, the GOP will have to act. They’ve really painted themselves into a corner, they’re short of time, and all options are bad.

And they still haven’t even acknowledged the help they got from the Russians! They deserve their fate.

I believe the question was whether he had had sexual relations with Lewinsky which required a yes or no answer. Your suggested response is not answering the question and if he had persisted he could have been held in contempt of court. Claiming the 5th would have been an admission of guilt so there were no good options available to him.

Again, I don't believe a president should been put in that situation just because of a chain of events triggered by a bogus lawsuit.

Yes, Nixon was guilty of obstruction.

No, it was not a witch hunt. There was a crime. The Watergate break-in.

There was no crime in Trump's case so yes it was a witch hunt.

Mueller knew the dossier was fake on day one.

Perhaps you need a history lesson in why Nixon resigned/was impeached and his involvement and knowledge in the Watergate break-in.

He should have never resigned. He was a good President doing good things for the world and resigning gave us the total disaster that was Jimmy Carter.

Two things stand out to me.

1) Trump absolutely obstructed. No doubt.

2) Our intelligence agencies under Obama were asleep at the wheel.

You absolutely did not read it. The only ones "claiming" Obama was responsible for anything to do with the current state of the republican-dominated intelligence agencies is Trump Media (Fox, Breitbart, Infowars) and their yapping heads.

So Trump actually refused to answer any written questions relating to obstruction?

I still disagree. I agree he was railroaded, but he would have been better off not lying, and I think perjury for a President and obstruction of justice requires removal. He could have asked for what their definition of "sexual relations" was. He could have defined it himself or defined what he DIDN'T do. Regarding the 5th, I was talking of Presidents in general.

I realize I have the benefit of hindsight here, and I do agree he was in a very bad position, but he was impeached because of it and Gore lost the election because of it, and the right demonized him and Hillary because of it. He should have told the truth. It is almost never the right thing to lie under oath, and it wasn't the right thing here.

This is a big problem. Conspiracy to a level to indict? No. Staff willingness to conspire? Absolutely. Trump willing to criticize Russia? Nope. Trump taking the word of Putin over or own intelligence agencies? Yep. Can he be trusted to protect America? Absolutely not. He has no credibility. Sarah Sanders has no credibility. Barr has no credibility. Trump and Sanders are confirmed liars. Barr is a spin artist at best and has overstepped his bounds with regard to the Mueller Report.

Mueller is still coming.

So, any investigation that ends in a determination that there was no crime committed is a witch hunt?

You do know that REPUBLICAN Rosenstein said he had no choice but to appoint a Special Counsel, right?

Donald Trump in pure idiocy launched the Mueller investigation by firing Comey and then stating he did it because of the Russia investigation and telling Russians in the Oval Office that the pressure was now off. HIS ACTIONS forced Rosenstein's hand according to Rosenstein. Trump has no one but himself to blame for the Mueller Investigation.

What say you then about any other crimes that are discovered as a result of the Mueller investigation? Are they ok to charge? Clinton's investigation began with White Water and ended with a BJ in the oval office.

In case you are wondering, here is the authority given to REPUBLICAN Mueller by REPUBLICAN Rosenstein:

"The Special Counsel is authorized to conduct the investigation confirmed by then-FBI

Director James 8. Corney in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on

Intelligence on March 20, 2017, including:

(i) any links and/or coordination bet ween the Russian government and individuals

associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and

(ii) any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation; and

(iii) any other matters within the scope of 28 C.F.R. § 600.4(a).
